Ualá Secures $20M From Tether, Marking Another Strategic Move in Tether’s Latin America Growth PlanTether invested $20 million in Ualá, the Argentine neobank with over 11 million customers in Argentina, Mexico, and Colombia.

The investment is part of a $197 million funding round led by Allianz X, which valued Ualá at $3.2 billion post-money.

Ualá’s CEO clarified that local regulations prevent the integration of USDT in the short term and that Tether participates solely as a financial investor.
Tether invested $20 million in Ualá, the Argentine neobank with more than 11 million customers in Argentina, Mexico, and Colombia. The transaction is part of a $197 million funding round announced by Ualá in March 2026 and led by Allianz X, which set the company’s post-money valuation at $3.2 billion.

Tether had been mentioned as a participant in the original announcement, but the exact amount of its investment only became known now, representing an approximate stake of 0.6% of the firm’s post-money capital.

Pierpaolo Barbieri, CEO of Ualá, clarified to Bloomberg that current regulations in Argentina and Mexico prevent any immediate integration of the USDT stablecoin into the platform. According to Barbieri, Tether participates in the round exclusively as a financial investor, with no associated operational agreements at this time

A newly uncovered class of malicious decentralized finance ( DeFi) liquidity pools is targeting the core infrastructure that cryptocurrency traders rely on to find the best prices, according to new research published July 16 by DeFi infrastructure firm Enso.

The company is calling the deceptive setups “toxic pools.” Unlike typical cryptocurrency hacks that drain funds directly from smart contracts, these pools are engineered to systematically trick transaction simulations. They return attractive, highly competitive price quotes when a crypto wallet or decentralized exchange ( DEX) aggregator runs a simulation, but they alter their behavior the moment the transaction is actually executed on the blockchain.

Japan's SBI Group is building Asia's first cross-border digital asset empire
the Japanese financial services conglomerate said on Friday. Coinhako holds a Major Payment Institution license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and operates in Singapore, SBI said.

"The SBI Group seeks to establish a global corridor for digital assets by connecting exchanges worldwide," Yoshitaka Kitao, CEO of SBI Holdings, Japan’s largest online securities firm with more than 14 million users and $308 billion in assets under custody.

The acquisition follows SBI teaming up with Ondo Finance on Thursday to tokenize Japanese equities and other assets using its JPYSC stablecoin for settlement.

The company's regional expansion is also backed by a new partnership with the Solana Foundation. Under the agreement, the foundation will take an equity stake in SBI R3 Japan, which will be renamed SBI Solana Global. The new entity will focus on issuing stablecoins and on tokenizing real-world assets, such as corporate bonds and real estate.
The company said the strategy is intended to connect traditional financial markets with blockchain-based infrastructure.

First in Asia
“SBI is the first financial group in Asia to go after the entire digital asset value chain at once, from issuance and settlement through trading infrastructure, asset management and retail distribution, and to do it across the region rather than only at home,” Joseph Goh, director and head of Asia Pacific at crypto investment banking and advisory firm Areta, told CoinDesk.
The real prize is the yen side of onchain settlement, one of the most strategic positions in Asian finance over the coming decade, and that is exactly what SBI is building toward,” he added.
One technical limitation remains. JPYSC does not yet support withdrawals to external wallets.

I have to admit... I was waiting for this pullback.

After such an impressive rally, HYPE was never going to move straight up forever. The daily chart is finally showing signs of profit-taking, but what catches my attention is where it's happening. Price is pulling back after failing to hold above the recent highs, yet the overall structure hasn't completely fallen apart. To me, this looks more like the market taking a breather than a full trend reversal. Hyperliquid also continues supporting HYPE through its ongoing fee-funded buyback mechanism, which has removed roughly 3.4% of the circulating supply this year and continues providing structural demand.

 That's why I'm trying not to overreact here. If HYPE can stabilize around the current zone and buyers begin printing higher lows again, I'd actually see this pullback as an opportunity instead of a warning sign. Of course, if support breaks with strong selling pressure, I'll happily step aside and wait. The market always gives another chance.

The same mindset applies when I'm rotating funds inside the TON ecosystem. Finding the right setup is only part of the process—execution matters just as much. That's one reason I continue using STONfi. Smart liquidity routing becomes especially valuable when volatility returns, and I also appreciate that STONfi stays fully non-custodial, so I always remain in control of my assets.
