South Korea-based cryptocurrency exchange Upbit has announced the addition of another digital asset to its listings. According to the exchange’s statement, Pharos will be available for trading in KRW, $BTC, and $USDT pairs. Trading is scheduled to begin on May 8, 2026, at 2:30 PM Turkish time.

Upbit emphasized that the PROS token will only support deposits and withdrawals through the Pharos network. Users were warned that assets could be lost if transfers were made through different networks. It was also announced that deposit and withdrawal transactions would be activated within 1 hour and 30 minutes of the announcement’s publication.

The exchange also announced that the standard trading restrictions it applies to new listings will also apply to PROS. Accordingly, buy orders will be restricted for approximately 5 minutes after trading begins.

During the same period, sell orders below 10 percent of the previous day’s closing price will also not be allowed. For approximately two hours, only limit orders will be supported.

According to the data shared in the announcement, as of 6:15 PM on May 8th, PROS was trading at 990.89 Korean won, 0.00000845 $BTC, and 0.6759 $USDT.

The Pharos project is described as an EVM-compliant Layer-1 blockchain network using an asynchronous BFT-based PoS consensus algorithm. Thanks to its parallel transaction architecture, the project focuses on Web3 applications and the tokenization of real-world assets.

The network is being developed with a capacity of approximately 30,000 transactions per second, a block production time of less than 1 second, and an infrastructure designed to support billions of users. The PROS token will be used for transaction fees, staking, and ecosystem incentives.

Stablecoins have moved from crypto niche to an institutional priority, but the next phase of adoption will depend on infrastructure, privacy and real-world usability, executives from MoonPay, Ripple and Paxos said at Consensus Miami 2026.

Richard Harrison, MoonPay’s vice president of banking and payment partnerships, said traditional finance firms are entering stablecoins faster because regulation has made the market easier to navigate.

“What GENIUS brought us was clarity,” Harrison said. “It was like a permission slip for companies to enter into stablecoins.”

Harrison said stablecoins are also a natural evolution of payments, where speed and convenience have long been limited by legacy rails. Cross-border transfers can still take days and remittances can carry steep fees, he said, while stablecoins allow near-instant, one-to-one value transfer.

Still, Harrison said stablecoins represent only a small share of global remittances today and may reach roughly 10% within five years. Business-to-business payments are already a clear use case, he said, but consumer adoption remains harder.

Jack McDonald, Ripple’s senior vice president of stablecoins, said institutional customers require regulated products, strong counterparties and trusted custody arrangements before moving meaningful volume on chain.

“For institutions to really unlock the full demand … you have to be regulated at the highest level,” McDonald said.

He said Ripple is focused less on stablecoin market capitalization than on utility, including payments, corporate treasury movement and collateral use in capital markets. McDonald said Ripple’s stablecoin complements $XRP rather than competing with it, because transactions on the $XRP Ledger still use $XRP as the native token.

The market is trapped in a pronounced tug-of-war between bullish and bearish positioning in the short term, one analyst said.
itcoin briefly dipped under the key $80,000 level, but reclaimed it shortly after, once again trading in a tight range. Bitcoin ETFs reverting to outflows and uncertainty about Iran continue to put pressure on risk assets.

Dean Chen, a Bitunix analyst, told Sherwood News that according to liquidation heat maps, significant liquidity is concentrated around the $78,000 zone, meaning a breakdown below this area could trigger further liquidation pressure.

At the same time, he said, dense short liquidity remains stacked between $82,000 and $83,000, highlighting that the market is still trapped in a pronounced tug-of-war between bullish and bearish positioning in the short term.

Bitfinex analysts told Sherwood that bitcoin’s dip below $80,000 follows a sizable breakout above the highs of the $72,000 range and is consistent with normal behavior in a forming uptrend.

“We believe the move has been driven primarily by a slowdown in marginal spot demand rather than aggressive deleveraging,” they said.

Bitcoin ETFs registered their first outflows in five days on Thursday, seeing $277.5 million leave the funds, SoSoValue data shows.

ETFs have been a strong price support for bitcoin since the beginning of the war, but analysts have warned that sustained outflows could rapidly put pressure on the price.

“As long as ETF inflows continue, BTC could extend toward the $83K–$87K range. However, without stronger retail participation, upside may remain limited, and the market could still see pullbacks toward the $75K–$78K support zone,” Lacie Zhang, a research analyst at Bitget Wallet, told Sherwood.

According to some observers, Iran’s calculus is simple: Maintain elevated oil prices long enough, and the Trump administration will be forced to accede to most of Tehran’s demands. However, with the blockade on Iranian ports remaining in place, the gamble may be too costly.
