Duquesne buys into HYPE treasury firm with $23M position
Duquesne Family Office has disclosed a $23 million position in Hyperliquid Strategies Inc., giving Stanley Druckenmiller’s investment office indirect exposure to $HYPE through the Nasdaq-listed digital asset treasury company.

The SEC filing for the second quarter of 2026 showed Duquesne held shares of Hyperliquid Strategies, which trades under the ticker $PURR, as of June 30, with the position appearing in the family office’s portfolio for the first time.

The disclosure adds Duquesne to the institutional investors gaining exposure to Hyperliquid through publicly traded shares instead of purchasing the protocol’s $HYPE token directly. Hyperliquid Strategies operates as a digital asset treasury company built around accumulating and managing $HYPE.

Fintel data based on the filing also lists $PURR as a new Duquesne position, accounting for roughly 0.44% of the investment manager’s reported portfolio.

Hyperliquid Strategies has built one of the largest corporate $HYPE holdings since establishing its digital asset treasury business.

As crypto.news previously reported in February, the Nasdaq-listed company purchased another 5 million $HYPE for about $129.5 million at an average price of $25.90 per token. The acquisition increased its holdings at the time to 17.6 million $HYPE while leaving the company with about $125 million in cash.

Its holdings later increased substantially. Artemis data cited in a June treasury report showed Hyperliquid Strategies controlled about 23.7 million $HYPE and was sitting on more than $1.1 billion in unrealized gains at the time.

The report found $HYPE-focused treasury companies were among the few major digital asset treasury groups still carrying sizeable paper profits during the June market downturn. Bitcoin,

Attackers have now drained nearly $114 million in bitcoin from more than 709 addresses, exploiting a Coldcard firmware flaw that generated wallet seeds with a fraction of their promised randomness. The first sweep emptied roughly 500 wallets in 25 minutes. The bug entered the codebase in March 2021 and sat in public, open-source view for more than five years. Plenty of people are explaining what happened. The harder question is why nobody caught it, and the answer implicates far more than one line of code.The bug sat in public for five yearsColdcard's source code was always available for inspection. "Don't trust, verify" only works when qualified people actually look, and for five years, effectively nobody did. The timeline around the bug's introduction deserves attention. In 2020, Coldcard's firmware carried a GPL open-source license. Two days after a competitor announced a device building on that GPL code, Coinkite CEO Rodolfo Novak, known as NVK, said publicly (in a since-deleted tweet) that he regretted choosing GPL. That November, Coldcard adopted a new license with the Commons Clause, whose own FAQ states plainly that the resulting software is no longer open source. A sweeping rewrite followed, and the March 2021 commit that stripped out the last GPL code is the same commit that broke seed generation.

Bitcoin's biggest holders, Strategy and Metaplanet, are betting on math, not price

Bitcoin $BTC$63,636.04 continues to trade in a narrow price band, and two of its biggest corporate believers aren't blinking.

Simon Gerovich, CEO of Metaplanet, and Michael Saylor, executive chairman of Strategy, two of the cryptocurrency’s biggest corporate holders, have doubled down on their argument that $BTC’s maximum issuance of 21 million coins beats infinite money printing, whatever the price is doing this week.

On Sunday, Gerovich noted that the global M2 money supply has reached an all-time high of over $100 trillion, calling it a bullish long-term tailwind for the cryptocurrency.

“Bitcoin's price has decoupled from liquidity over the past year. But supply schedules don't change,” Gerovich said. “21 million will always be 21 million. When the money supply expands forever, you hold the asset that can't. That's why we hold hard money.”

Bitcoin’s price has decoupled from broader liquidity expansion over the past year. Even as M2 money supply swelled, $BTC has nearly halved to $63,500. The divergence is consistent with previous market cycles, in which bearish trends bitcoin's price temporarily detached from rising macroeconomic liquidity.

Ethereum’s next big upgrade has 66 proposals, including a major privacy fix
Ethereum developers are deciding whether the blockchain’s next major upgrade, Hegotá, should make it easier to build private transactions without relying on middlemen.
As with other blockchains, all Ethereum addresses are permanent and hold a running balance, so anyone can read an address’s full history and see what it holds. That presents a problem for payroll, treasury operations or anyone who would rather not publish their finances.
Dealing with that has been left to applications built on top of Ethereum. A package now under consideration would move part of the job into the network itself.
The centerpiece is Frame Transactions, or Ethereum Improvement Proposal 8141 (EIP-8141), which would let an account define how a transaction is approved, executed and paid for, rather than forcing every user through the same setup.
For an ordinary user, that could mean a wallet where someone else covers the fee, several actions are bundled into one payment, or the cryptography approving a transaction changes without moving to a new account.
Toni Wahrstätter, an Ethereum Foundation researcher and a co-author of the proposal, set out the case for it in an X post as developers began narrowing Hegotá's scope.
Ethereum's next year's upgrade, Hegotá, is being scoped right now.
66 proposals are on the table and over the next few core dev calls, this list will be narrowed down to the EIPs that get implementations, devnets, testnets, and a realistic chance of shipping in 2027.
Private payment systems on Ethereum can already hide information using cryptographic proofs, but getting those transactions onto the blockchain still takes extra infrastructure, and some designs route users through relayers, outside services that submit the transaction on their behalf.

While the leading cryptocurrency Bitcoin has been trading sideways between $60,000 and $65,000 for some time, investors in the cryptocurrency market are now focused on macroeconomic developments that could determine Bitcoin’s direction.

While macroeconomic developments are being closely monitored at this point, a noteworthy assessment of the FED came from Goldman Sachs Chief Economist Jan Hatzius.

A Goldman Sachs economist stated that the likelihood of the Fed raising interest rates in September is very low, which could be positive for Bitcoin.

Hatzius stated that the recently released weak economic data and the slowdown in inflation have made it more difficult for the Fed to raise interest rates again.

Markets are pricing the Fed as too hawkish!
According to Jan Hatzius’s assessment sent to clients, weakening retail sales in the U.S., softening employment data, and declining inflation significantly reduce the likelihood of a Fed interest rate hike in September.

At this point, Hatzius noted that, under the current economic outlook, inflation is more likely to continue improving rather than worsening for the remainder of the year.

The economist stated that, as things stand, the markets are still pricing in the Fed’s interest rate path as overly hawkish.
