Soluna’s 1 billion-share proposal exposes the funding challenge behind its AI and Bitcoin expansionSoluna Holdings is asking shareholders to substantially expand its ability to issue stock as the>An SEC filing showed that Soluna shareholders will vote at the company’s Oct. 16 annual meeting on whether to increase its authorized common stock to 1 billion shares from 375 million.

Investors will also consider a separate proposal allowing Soluna to issue more than 20% of its outstanding shares under a standby equity agreement with YA II PN. The company had 246.7 million shares outstanding as of Aug. 21.

The second proposal relates to a March agreement allowing Soluna to sell YA up to $250 million of common stock over time.Neither vote would immediately issue shares or guarantee that Soluna raises the full amount, but approval would give management significantly more room to use equity to fund expansion.

Soluna has said its projects require substantial capital and identified the YA facility and other equity programs among its financing options. Additional share issuance could dilute existing investors’ earnings per share and voting power.

Those capital needs are becoming more visible as Soluna advances Project Dorothy 3, a planned AI and high-performance computing campus in Texas with potential capacity of more than 300 MW.

The company has secured 397 acres for the initial buildout and begun master planning and design work.

Soluna has also acquired the 150 MW Briscoe Wind Farm for $53 million, giving it control of a renewable-energy source supporting the broader Dorothy complex. The company said some capital raised during the second quarter was used toward the Dorothy 3 land acquisition.

Dorothy 3 remains in development and is not part of Soluna’s 192 MW of currently energized capacity.

SpaceX stock could rise 75% to $240, JPMorgan says

SpaceX stock has gained about 2% after JPMorgan retained its Overweight rating and $240 price target, implying roughly 75% upside from recent trading levels

JPMorgan analyst Doug Anmuth has maintained an Overweight rating on SpaceX and a $240 price target, telling investors that the bank has become “increasingly positive” about the prospects for Grok following the Cursor acquisition.

Based on SpaceX’s recent share price, the target indicates potential upside of about 75%. SPCX rose around 2% in Tuesday’s premarket session and traded near $138 during the regular session, compared with its previous close of $135.

Anmuth said the completed purchase of Cursor represents an important step in the development of SpaceX’s enterprise artificial intelligence business. JPMorgan has already observed “tangible improvements” after Cursor data was added to supplemental training for recent Grok models, according to the analyst note.

Grok’s ability to generate revenue from business customers could become a more important part of SpaceX’s AI operations if corporate adoption increases, the bank said. JPMorgan based its positive view partly on the performance and pricing of Grok 4.6, which it believes could help the model compete for enterprise clients.

Bernstein has also described Grok as a possible “wildcard” for SpaceX, according to a separate analyst assessment. The firm said Cursor and the latest Grok model could strengthen the company’s AI services, although the assessment remains an analyst projection rather than a financial result reported by SpaceX.

The BLOOM pilot

Led by the Monetary Authority of Singapore, BLOOM stands for Borderless, Liquid, Open, Online and Multi-currency, and brings together financial institutions and industry participants to test faster cross-border payments. Maybank Singapore recently joined the initiative to help develop common standards and infrastructure for tokenised cross-border payments. Nium is Visa’s first pilot partner under the program, and because payment settlements typically take place on business days, the two companies will explore settlement on weekends and public holidays.

How it works

The pilot will use regulated stablecoins backed by major currencies, including the U.S. dollar and euro, alongside Visa’s payment network and compliance systems. The companies aim to reduce delays and give participating financial institutions faster access to funds outside standard settlement windows. BLOOM brings together financial institutions and other industry participants to test faster and more programmable cross-border payments, and the pilot is part of Visa’s broader experimentation with blockchain-based settlement as the company extends its network beyond card rails into digital-asset infrastructure.

Zerohash, the crypto infrastructure company that serves high-profile partners such as Morgan Stanley's E*Trade, BlackRock and Stripe, returned to the applicant pool for a U.S. banking charter after the federal regulator handed back its first effort.

The U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, which regulates and charters national banks and trust companies, had formally returned the Chicago-based firm's first application last month, meaning the effort had some material deficiencies. But Zerohash said it would be quickly starting a new application with a significantly narrower focus.

That trust application is now awaiting the OCC's review, and a public comment period is open until September 17. Many other crypto-native firms have recently received preliminary trust charters, and two were denied, but this is the only one returned.

A spokesperson for the company told CoinDesk earlier this month that they intended to refile again in August, but that it would be less ambitious and represent "a more focused approval of national trust activities aligned with our intended rollout timeline." However, neither Zerohash nor the OCC responded to requests for comment on this new effort.

Zerohash's earlier comments contended that the misfire on the first application was handled "in coordination with the OCC" and that it wasn't "a substantive decision on the merits of our application."

The company is already a state-chartered trust bank and handles crypto infrastructure needs for several major financial firms, including Franklin Templeton, Stripe, Interactive Brokers and DraftKings.

Zerohash is also involved in a California wrongful termination court case in which its former chief compliance officer claims he was fired after uncovering several compliance problems.

Bitwise is taking a different route into tokenized equities, launching model portfolios that live directly inside investors’ crypto wallets rather than inside a traditional fund.

The new Automated Token Portfolios (ATPs) are designed by Bitwise, with Coinbase providing the underlying tokenized stocks and and executed through Glider. Investors retain custody of the assets throughout the process.

“When an investor signs up, they’re going to replicate a strategy designed by an institutional investment firm like Bitwise,” Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan said in a video announcing the product. “They hold tokenized stocks in their own personal wallet, and then it automatically follows the strategy that they’ve selected.”

The products are available only to non-U.S. persons in eligible jurisdictions outside the United States.

Bitwise Starts With AI, Robotics and Mega-Cap Themes
Bitwise said it is launching three initial portfolios. The Mag7X ATP provides equal-weighted exposure to Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia, Alphabet, Amazon, Meta and Tesla, plus SpaceX.

The Robotics ATP focuses on companies developing humanoid robots, autonomous vehicles and warehouse automation, including Tesla, Nvidia and Amazon.

The AI Leaders ATP includes Nvidia, Microsoft, Alphabet, Meta, Amazon, SpaceX, Tesla and Sandisk.

The structure gives Bitwise more flexibility than a conventional ETF, which can take months to launch and may be constrained by diversification or fund-design requirements.
