Super League shares (SLE) surged as much as 80% in the first hour of trading on Tuesday before shedding gains to around 50%. Metaplanet shares rose a little over 4%.

Benchmark analysts noted that the deal stands apart from the wave of shell-and-PIPE bitcoin treasury transactions over the past two years because Metaplanet is using bitcoin from its own balance sheet rather than discounted third-party capital. The share count was fixed Aug. 14, the equity was priced near Super League’s Aug. 17 close without a discount, and Metaplanet’s shares are subject to a five-year lock-up.

Cypher Tank is back. 

Applications for 2026’s Bitcoin-focused pitch competition are now open after last year’s event drew over 4,000 participants from 64 countries. 

Like 2025’s event, the format, promoted and funded by the Plan ₿ VC Fund and the Plan ₿ Foundation, pairs a “Shark Tank”-style negotiation format with a documentary-style production, filming real pitches, deals and judge deliberations for release as an online series. 

This year’s edition expands the finalist field to 12 projects — eight for-profit and four nonprofit — up from last year’s eleven, with founders competing to negotiate direct investment from a panel of judges known as the “honey badgers” and to win one of three $100,000 prizes in incubation, acceleration, or relocation services.

Finalists are chosen by committee against three criteria: alignment with the values of individual freedom, privacy, decentralization, and resilience; execution ability, sustainability, and market feasibility; and integration within the broader Plan ₿ ecosystem.

The competition unfolds in four phases. Applications opened August 13 and close September 25, after which finalists are notified starting September 30. The finals themselves run October 25–27 at PoW Space Lugano, immediately following the Plan ₿ Forum — beginning with a coaching day where finalists rehearse pitches with communication experts, followed by two days of live pitching and negotiation split into batches on October 26 and 27.

Winners are selected at the close of the second day.

The hardware wallet maker disputes the severity of a bug reported by researcher group TestMachine, calling the claims overstated.

Ledger, the maker of widely used hardware wallets, has addressed reports of a signing flaw in its Ethereum application. The company says the vulnerability was already patched before it became public knowledge.

The disclosure came from a group identified as TestMachine, which flagged an issue with how the Ethereum app handled transaction signing. Signing flaws are significant in hardware wallet security because they touch the core function of the device: verifying that a user is approving the transaction they intend to approve, not one altered in transit.

According to reporting on the timeline, Ledger's patch was deployed before TestMachine's disclosure reached the public. That sequencing matters. If a fix predates disclosure, the practical window in which users were exposed narrows considerably, even if the underlying bug once existed.

Ledger did not simply confirm the fix. The company also pushed back directly on how the flaw was framed, with one statement characterized as accusing the disclosure of manufacturing fear for attention. This suggests Ledger views the public messaging around the bug as disproportionate to its actual impact on users.

Hardware wallets sit at a sensitive point in the crypto custody chain. Millions of users rely on devices like Ledger's to keep private keys offline, away from internet-connected malware. Any signing-related vulnerability, even one addressed quickly, tends to draw outsized attention because it touches the fundamental trust assumption behind cold storage.
