KAITO climbs 13% on retail buying: But is this rally a bull trap?

Kaito [$KAITO] has climbed 13% over the past 24 hours, one of its stronger gains in recent sessions, driven largely by a surge in buying activity across the market.

The question now is whether $KAITO can sustain the run in a market that has yet to fully recover—a rally that took shape as retail investors seized control of the trend, even as selling pressure gradually builds beneath it.

Retail investors take over $KAITO

Retail investors have driven much of $KAITO’s surge, with data from the whale-retail delta pointing to a clear takeover in the market.

The whale-retail ratio measures which group is driving an asset’s trend, turning green when whales dominate the move and red when retail traders hold the upper hand.

This marks the first time retail investors have taken over the asset since the 14th of January, with whales having dominated for much of the year, and that retail involvement has fed directly into the rally.

Early signs point to a growing base of sellers, though, as spot market data shows sell pressure building gradually.

Data from CoinGlass, whose spot flow metric tracks these sales, records a total sell-off of roughly $3.22 million against total purchases of $2.77 million. That gap between buyers and sellers leaves spot netflow at a net outflow of roughly $447,580.

While the move may reflect profit-taking, it still points to growing seller dominance over the same period.

Brazil’s securities regulator sets up task force with 60-day deadline for tokenization proposalBrazil’s securities regulator, the Comissão de Valores Mobiliários (CVM) said it created a working group to draft an experimental framework for tokenized securities.

The regulator said the framework will cover the registration, custody, trading and settlement of securities using distributed ledger technology.

The group must send its first proposal to the CVM’s board within 60 days of being formally installed, while a broader review will run for 120 days, with a possible 30-day extension.

The group brings together 14 CVM departments and may consult government agencies, market associations, self-regulatory bodies and outside specialists. It will also review cybersecurity risks, international regulatory models and results from earlier sandbox programs, the regulator said.Brazil already applies securities law according to a token’s economic characteristics. The CVM’s 2022 guidance clarified that using blockchain does not change whether an asset qualifies as a security.

The new review will focus on what happens around the asset.

Blockchains can combine functions that are normally split between exchanges, custodians, registrars, depositories and settlement systems. That raises questions over who controls the official ownership record, how private keys are held, when transactions can be reversed and who is liable when systems fail.Brazil’s tokenized asset market has been steadily growing. Data from Brazilian tracking platform RWA Monitor show the country’s real-world asset market is now at around 12 billion reais, equivalent to roughly $2.34 billion. Debentures and commercial notes make up about $1.3 billion of that total.

Marketprice analysis

Spain entered as the clear favorite on both platforms. On Polymarket, Spain traded near 59 cents, while Argentina stood near 40 cents before settlement. Similarly, Kalshi showed almost identical pricing, placing Spain at 59% and Argentina at 41.6%, despite each exchange operating an independent order book.
