T. Rowe Price, which manages $1.89 trillion in client assets, announced on July 16, 2026, that its Active Crypto ETF had begun trading on NYSE Arca under the ticker TKNZ. The product offers spot exposure to several leading crypto assets. Its launch tests whether active allocation can offer investors a meaningful alternative to single-token and passively managed products.

The firm stated:

“The fund is the first actively managed multi-token spot exchange-traded product offered in the marketplace. It began trading on NYSE Arca today.”

Blue Macellari, T. Rowe Price’s head of digital assets, manages TKNZ with co-portfolio managers Stefan Hubrich, David Kroger, Sean McWilliams, and Dante Pearson. Their investing experience ranges from nine to 21 years, while Macellari has more than two decades of experience in alternative asset management.

The SEC approved NYSE Arca’s proposal to list and trade the product on June 12, 2026. Managers can adjust the portfolio as trends, rallies, and market rotations develop.

The fund’s disclosed holdings showed that active diversification did not mean equal weighting across cryptocurrencies. As of July 17, BTC accounted for 41.13% of the portfolio, making it the dominant position. ETH followed at 18.31%, while BNB represented 11.12% of fund assets.

SOL and XRP held nearly equal allocations at 9.46% and 9.42%, respectively. HYPE accounted for another 6.14%. Together, those six crypto assets represented more than 95% of the portfolio, indicating that the fund initially concentrated most of its exposure among a relatively small group of major tokens.

How will POL holders benefit?
POL, the native governance token in the Polygon ecosystem, was rebranded from MATIC in late 2024. During its debut, it surged to $1 before a massive crash to $0.06, or about a 93% drop in 2026.

Despite the losses, POL holders have surged 78% to over 245K in the past month. For Hopmans, clarity on how these holders will benefit from future Polygon payment profits would be worthwhile.

He also sought details on how the community treasury, under the Polygon Foundation, will be handled after the transition. Hopmans claimed that Polygon Foundation, which oversees governance, moved over 50M POL in H1 2026 without clear communication to the community.

For Polygon Labs CEO Marc Boiron, the transition into a blockchain payment firm would ensure its profitability in 2027.

As of writing, the project has yet to respond to Hopmans’ call for transparency and accountability to the community. That said, Polygon’s move was not surprising given its resilience in the competitive payments segment.

Will Polygon increase its stablecoin market share?
The Ethereum L2 hit a record $106B in annual stablecoin transfer volume in 2025. So far in 2026, the volume is clocking $70B. This has been a growing trend since 2023, making it a key settlement layer for stablecoins, just like Ethereum, Tron, and Arbitrum.

According to the analyst, the crypto cycle changed after 2025, catching much of the industry by surprise. While sentiment remains weak, he believes Cardano is entering a potential accumulation phase rather than the end of its growth story.

The analyst notes that $ADA is now trading roughly 90% below its all-time high, placing it in a historical bottoming range seen during previous crypto bear markets. The $0.14 level remains a critical support area after buyers defended it during June’s sell-off.

Although he does not rule out another decline below support, he said investors should prepare for both scenarios instead of reacting emotionally. Historically, periods of maximum fear have often created long-term buying opportunities across the crypto market.

Whale Accumulation shows Confidence

One of the strongest bullish signs, according to the analyst, is continued whale accumulation.

Wallets holding 1 million or more $ADA now control 67.5% of the circulating supply.

Wallets with 10–100 million $ADA increased their share during June’s sell-off.

Whale holdings have reached their highest level since February 2023, even as smaller investors continue selling.

The analyst says this behavior mirrors previous crypto cycles, where large investors quietly accumulated while retail sentiment remained extremely negative.

Activity around Ondo Finance [ONDO] is picking up! This is happening in tandem with its new infrastructure and partnerships, so it looks like good days are ahead.

Ondo Finance’s on-chain activity shoots up
Per Santiment Intelligence, new addresses have increased for three straight days. The metric hit 754 on July 16; that’s about twice the pace seen earlier in the month. Daily active addresses also followed the pattern, going from 1,410 to 2,589 over the same period.

The key inference here, is that new developments have attracted attention to the platform.

Ondo recently launched tokenized stock representations using entitlements generated through DTCC’s tokenization infrastructure. This connects its products more closely with the systems used in traditional US markets.

The company stated that with this, they’re joining a select club of leading TradFi and DeFi firms. Some of the other well known names include BlackRock, JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, Nasdaq, and the NYSE.

It also partnered with Japan’s SBI Group to bring Japanese equities onchain. The aim is to distribute Ondo products through SBI’s network and explore the use of a yen-backed stablecoin for settlement.

About the same, Ian De Bode, CEO, Ondo Finance, said,

Maple Finance [SYRUP] joined the assets hit by widespread selling over the past 24 hours.

The token reached $0.20 early Thursday before retreating alongside the broader crypto market. It last traded around this level on the 26th of May.

However, Maple Finance’s on-chain performance remained positive, creating a divergence between protocol activity and SYRUP’s price.

Why did Maple’s TVL rise?
Capital deposited across Maple Finance continued growing despite the token’s decline.

The protocol’s Total Value Locked [TVL] increased by roughly $173 million within 48 hours, according to DeFiLlama.

However, rising TVL does not necessarily represent an equivalent amount of fresh capital. Changes in underlying asset prices can also affect it.

Even so, the increase suggested that Maple retained demand while SYRUP faced market-wide selling.

DeFiLlama also recorded approximately $153,000 in Holders Revenue during July. This metric tracks value distributed to token holders.

These distributions could support holding demand, although they do not guarantee stronger price performance.

Why are SYRUP traders pulling back?
SYRUP’s decline appeared to follow broader market weakness rather than deterioration across the protocol.

CoinGlass data showed that Open Interest fell approximately 7% over the past day.

It declined from $24.15 million to $22.44 million, removing $1.71 million from outstanding derivatives positions.

Falling Open Interest suggested that traders reduced exposure as volatility increased. However, it did not reveal whether longs or shorts closed voluntarily.

Meanwhile, approximately $27,390 in SYRUP positions were liquidated during the period.

The relatively small liquidation figure suggested that forced closures explained little of the broader Open Interest decline.
