HTX Invites You to Share 600K USDT in Gift Packs

DeFi management platform Summer.fi announced plans to wind down operations after seven years. The platform concluded that the damage caused by the 6th of July Lazy Summer Protocol exploit left the team without the runway required to rebuild.

Previously, the protocol expanded rapidly and accumulated $200 million in total value locked [TVL] within its first nine months. This reflected strong user confidence in the protocol.

However, DeFi conditions weakened after the Stream Finance fallout in October 2025, reducing momentum before the exploit occurred.

Then, the 6th of July exploit removed critical liquidity and depleted part of the team’s own capital, eliminating its recovery runway. Consequently, users faced uncertainty, while confidence across DeFi weakened further.

The exploit highlights how security failures can rapidly erase years of ecosystem growth.

Therefore, the closure reinforces growing security concerns, encourages investors to reassess protocol risk, and may slow capital inflows into similar platforms.

Why growth isn’t enough
Following the shutdown announcement, attention has shifted from the exploit itself to its lasting effects on users and protocol activity. More importantly, the Summer.fi app will remain available until the 31st of August.

SummerFi’s journey shows that rapid growth alone cannot guarantee long-term success in DeFi. Before the 6th of July exploit, the Lazy Summer Protocol attracted strong user interest, with total value locked holding between $22 million and $25 million.

However, a weakness in the protocol’s system allowed attackers to exploit it and steal around $6 million. As a result, the team paused vaults, users rushed to withdraw funds, and new deposits quickly slowed.

Zhizhu reaching a $1 billion ARR milestone in July caught my attention—not because ARR equals revenue, but because of the speed of the growth.
Just a few months ago, its API platform was running at roughly a quarter of that level. Growing to a $1B annualized run rate in less than four months suggests enterprise AI adoption is accelerating much faster than many expected.

Decentralized exchange aggregator 1inch has confirmed that co-founder Anton Bukov is no longer involved with the project. This was after Bukov publicly revealed that he had been fired from the company late last year and announced a new DeFi venture.

In a statement posted on X, Bukov said he was dismissed in late November 2025, adding that he no longer has any role in 1inch’s operations, product architecture or security.

Shortly afterwards, 1inch confirmed that he has not been actively involved with the project since December 2025. It stressed that the protocol and its roadmap remain unchanged.

Bukov announces departure and new project

Bukov, who co-founded 1inch in 2019, said his work focused on the protocol’s architecture, security and economic design. He credited himself with leading the development of several core products, including the 1inch Router, Fusion and its cross-chain infrastructure.

According to Bukov, user and colleague feedback prompted him to become more involved in the company’s leadership and operational management. However, he said those efforts ultimately ended with his dismissal in late November 2025.

Despite his exit from day-to-day operations, Bukov said he remains a co-founder and 50% shareholder in the company.

He also announced the launch of a new DeFi project, Second Tier [tier.xyz], which he said will focus on building secure and efficient financial infrastructure.

1inch says operations remain unaffected

Responding to Bukov’s announcement, 1inch confirmed that he is no longer contributing to the project and has not been actively involved in any associated organizations since December 2025.

The company said Bukov’s departure does not affect the operation of the 1inch Network. It added that its protocols, infrastructure, and core systems continue to function normally.
