Growth in total value locked (TVL) is traditionally seen as one of the key health indicators for a DeFi platform. The more capital users are willing to trust a protocol with, the deeper the liquidity, the more stable the service runs, and the wider the opportunities for further ecosystem development.According to market participants, several factors fed into the increase.

Over the past year, the Spreadefi team has been actively building out the platform’s infrastructure, regularly rolling out technical updates and improving the user experience. A lot of focus went into optimizing liquidity pool management, making smart contracts more efficient, and sharpening the internal algorithms that handle capital allocation.

Swedish Bitcoin treasury firm B Treasury Capital AB expects its new BTC PREF preference share to start trading on the Spotlight Stock Market on Monday, July 20. Investors left 47.7% of the rights offer unfilled, so the market will soon reveal what buyers are willing to pay for a new route to funding further Bitcoin purchases.

Investors subscribed for 102,025 of 195,078 shares, or 52% of the offer, according to the issuer's July 2 result. The issue produced about SEK 12.2 million ($1.26 million) gross and SEK 11.9 million ($1.23 million) net, compared with a maximum of roughly SEK 23.4 million ($2.42 million) gross.

BTC PREF pays SEK 1 per month, totaling SEK 12 per year on the SEK 120 subscription price. If paid as scheduled, the official terms indicate an annual cash yield of 10% at issue.

The same scheduled payment produces a different indicated cash yield at each market price. At SEK 100, SEK 12 represents 12%; at SEK 90, it represents about 13.3%. Dividends may be deferred, however, and unpaid shortfalls accumulate without interest ahead of dividends on Class B common shares. The calculations are therefore neither guaranteed returns nor total returns.

Amid the flurry of discussion surrounding the CLARITY Act’s approval, the Blockchain Association group stated that the bill is a proposal for public safety as well as consumer protection.

In its recent X thread, the group noted,

The group argued that the CLARITY Act would establish a federal framework for the U.S. crypto market. It could also strengthen law enforcement’s ability to tackle financial crime.

The bill aims to improve oversight and transparency while limiting criminals’ ability to exploit offshore platforms.

However, this would require exchanges, brokers, custodians, and other intermediaries to register with regulators. They would also face stricter anti-money laundering, sanctions, and reporting requirements.

The group added,

The bill also gives law enforcement novel tools to go after criminals.

Additionally, it places Bitcoin ATMs under federal regulation by imposing registration and anti-fraud requirements. Lastly, developers who create blockchain software without holding client funds would not be subject to financial institution regulations under the Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act (BRCA).

This way, more transparent regulations would encourage more compliant crypto firms to operate in the U.S. and improve collaboration with law enforcement.

However, on the other hand, the current version of the CLARITY Act is being opposed by Democratic Senators Chris Murphy, Jeff Merkley, and Chris Van Hollen, who claim it lacks robust ethics protections. They warn that without such provisions, conflicts of interest and accountability issues may remain unresolved.

Coinbase Sell-Off Creates Buying Opportunity For Wall Street: Report
Institutional researchers at William Blair say Coinbase stock (COIN) is positioned for a rebound next year despite shortcomings over the past few months. The asset has plunged over 30% since January, alongside major crypto stocks posting similar numbers. Crypto stocks are assets that typically move in tandem with Bitcoin (BTC).

In a new research note, the Chicago-based investment bank slashed its 2026 estimates for the asset, as risks remain. The firm lowered revenue projections by 12% this year and adjusted EBITDA projections by 13%. 

Trading volumes are also tipped to decline further, to approximately $669 billion, or 44%. Basically, Coinbase will face major headwinds if current market conditions intensify. 

COIN is down 30% since January, with no major positive breakout expected in the coming months. The decline is linked to the broader crypto market downturn, during which Bitcoin has shed over 20% in the same period. The top crypto is also down over 30% since its all-time high above $125k in 2025.

As a crypto stock, institutional offloads from Bitcoin affected the exchange stock market, marked by declining trading volumes. While liquidations persist, the plunge in COIN and other crypto stocks continues to highlight the correlation between the two markets.

However, William Blair analysts led by Andrew Jeffrey and Adib Choudhury noted that though earnings will plunge further, they would pick up in 2027. This projection also coincides with a similar forecast for the crypto market as bulls aim to wipe out previous losses.

Furthermore, the recovery differs from the 2022 dip because of high whale activity.

Ripple Payments Europe has joined 14 other firms in ESMA’s latest MiCA register update, lifting the number of approved crypto asset service providers to 294.

ESMA’s updated register identifies Ripple Payments Europe SA as an authorized crypto asset service provider, allowing the company’s European payments unit to offer regulated crypto services across 29 EU countries.

The authorization follows Ripple’s earlier approval in Luxembourg under the Markets in Crypto-Assets framework. According to Ripple, the Luxembourg license permits its European subsidiary to serve financial institutions and businesses throughout the European Economic Area.

Combined with its existing electronic money institution license in Luxembourg, the CASP approval gives Ripple permission to provide crypto asset and stablecoin payment services. Ripple has stated that banks, fintech companies, and corporate clients can use one integration to collect funds, exchange assets, and make payments.

Alongside Ripple, ESMA added Portugal-based Bison Bank, Croatia’s state-owned Hrvatska poštanska banka, and Liechtenstein-based Kaiser Partner Privatbank to the register. Their inclusion shows that regulated banks are also seeking permission to provide digital asset services under MiCA.

Payment processor BitPay has separately secured MiCA authorization from the Dutch financial regulator, according to the original report. The license allows BitPay to provide crypto and stablecoin payment services across eligible EU markets through MiCA’s passporting system.

With the latest additions, ESMA now lists 294 authorized CASPs. Licensing activity has slowed since MiCA’s 18-month transitional period ended on July 1, the report noted, although the register continues to add crypto companies, payment firms, and traditional financial institutions.
