Bitcoin Price Today: BTC Pulls Back From $81,300, What’s Next?Bitcoin pierced the $80,000 mark overnight, reaching as high as $81,300 before pulling back to roughly $79,000, according to chart analysis from Verified Investing chief market strategist Gareth Soloway. The pullback has raised a question for traders. Does this rally confirm a new bull market, or is Bitcoin simply testing resistance in an ongoing bear market?

Signs of Fading Momentum

Soloway pointed to a few technical warning signs building on the chart:

Growing upper wicks on recent candles, a pattern he said signals increasing selling pressure as price pushes higher
A trend line, previously support, that is now acting as resistance after being broken and retested
A cluster of resistance levels stacking up in the $80,000 to $83,000 region
The One Question That Matters

According to Soloway, confirming a genuine trend reversal comes down to a single technical test. Has Bitcoin made a higher high compared to its prior swing high?

The relevant prior high sits at $82,830
As of this analysis, Bitcoin has not yet closed above that level
A confirmed break above $82,830 would mark the first higher high in the current pattern, an early signal of a potential shift from a downtrend to an uptrend
Soloway was clear that even a break above this level would only be the “beginning stages” of confirming a new bull market, not definitive proof on its own.

Where a Pullback Could Land

If Bitcoin does confirm a higher high, Soloway laid out two possible support zones for a subsequent pullback:

$73,000, a more aggressive buy-the-dip level based on prior price action
$67,000, which he described as the stronger, more conservative buyable level given the prior consolidation and breakout pattern at that price
Soloway said the method for judging trend direction doesn’t need to be complicated.

UN Adopts DFINITY AI & Cloud Tech for Governments – Why Isn’t ICP Rallying?On August 25, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) officially partnered with the DFINITY Foundation (the non-profit behind Internet Computer or $ICP) to develop government-based AI and cloud systems.

According to the official announcement, the coalition will run for a year, during which the UN will test the effectiveness and safety of AI and cloud infrastructure that have been specifically tailored to public services.

Goals for UN partnership with DFINITY
Notably, the pilot will take place in three major avenues. The first is educational platforms where several governments will collaborate with DFINITY to customize and test decentralized frameworks for public education.

The second is public software development, where the team will test customized application development using DFINITY’S cloud engines and Caffeine AI. The latter is a specialized engine that enables autonomous agents to write code for other AI.

Finally, the project will test how well it can enable government self-custody in secure software deployment. This is meant to eliminate the need for local public service entities to share data with global tech giants.

Project scope and blockchain history
The UN will select five countries to participate in the above project, with each country presenting a national problem that would benefit from Web3 technology.

DFINITY and Pakistan’s Digital Authority launched a similar system earlier this year, enabling the country to keep national data within its borders.

Meanwhile, the UN has been researching blockchain-based technology for several months now following its deployment of a Blockchain Advisory Group.

BNB Smart Chain (BSC) activated its Pasteur hard fork on Tuesday, closing bridge verification and validator authorization gaps while introducing a new route intended to fit more transactions into each block.

In a Tuesday post, BNB Chain confirmed that Pasteur was live on the BSC mainnet. The team said the upgrade strengthens the network’s bridge, staking and governance security while giving blocks more capacity without changing its 450-millisecond block time.

The upgrade combines three BNB Evolution Proposals. BEP-682 rejects duplicate validator entries during cross-chain light-block verification, while BEP-695 tightens controls involving validator key rotation, slashing and governance voting. BEP-675 changes how specialist builders submit blocks to validators.

The upgrade prevents validators from being counted more than once in bridge approvals, removes authority from old validator keys and blocks restricted addresses from voting, while aiming to fit more transactions into blocks during busy periods.

Pasteur targets fuller blocks

Under BSC’s previous block-building route, a builder executed transactions before submitting a proposed block, and the validator executed them again before signing it. BNB Chain said the repeated work took time away from builders operating within the network’s block window, sometimes leaving blocks underfilled.

BEP-675 allows builders to submit blocks they have already executed. Validators check the proposed block against consensus rules, sign and broadcast it, then complete full execution verification afterward. Builders can also continue using the previous route, under which validators execute transactions before signing.

None of the three government institutions had published a formal announcement confirming the reported study group when checked Wednesday.

Japan’s blockchain settlement plan targets existing delays
Japanese stock transactions currently use a T+2 settlement cycle, meaning cash settlement occurs two business days after a trade. Japanese government bond transactions generally settle on the following business day.

The proposed blockchain infrastructure would connect the securities transfer and corresponding cash payment more closely. Investors could gain access to sale proceeds faster and potentially reinvest the funds almost immediately.

A development plan is expected to examine the blockchain architecture, responsibilities assigned to public and private participants and the system’s implementation timetable. International remittances could eventually become another use case.

The infrastructure “could” become operational in the early 2030s if the plan receives formal approval, according to Nikkei. No final implementation decision has been announced.

Real-time settlement can reduce the period during which counterparties remain exposed to each other. However, removing settlement delays also reduces the time available to secure cash or securities, creating new liquidity and operational requirements

The crypto market flipped from fear to "extreme greed" this week for the first time since 2024, and the Ripple-linked $XRP rode that wave hard.

$XRP, the cryptocurrency created by the co-founders of Ripple, erased its most bearish signal last week and took off, registering a 46% gain over seven days and topping a $91 billion market cap.

But, as is usually the case, what goes up must come down. And now $XRP’s hot streak is cooling, dropping as much as 2% earlier today.

$XRP isn't the only top-10 coin pulling back today, but among the decliners, $XRP's drop is one of the shallowest.

$XRP price: What the charts say
$XRP is trading at $1.4554 on the daily chart, down from a $1.5505 high, in a recovery that still hasn't escaped a longer-term downtrend.

For the better part of April through July, $XRP ground lower, bottoming near $1.00 in early August. Since then the move has been vertical—a roughly 55% rip to $1.55, with the Average Directional Index (an indicator that measures trend strength, regardless of direction) at 44.8 confirming this was no weak bounce but a strong directional leg.

But running too hot for too long can cause issues, and this leg ran straight to $1.55, then reversed. The latest daily candle closed at $1.4554 after opening at $1.4818, the second straight down day. This has the shape of a relief rally stalling under resistance, not a trend reversal.

Ripple USD ($RLUSD) surpassed $2 billion in market capitalization last week. On Aug. 25, Ripple shared the milestone in a post on X:

“$RLUSD crossed $2B in market cap last week, with close to $1B issued on the $XRP Ledger. Live since December 2024, built for real-world utility and designed for enterprise use cases. “

Each $RLUSD token is designed to maintain a value of $1 through reserves containing cash and permitted cash equivalents. Ripple’s $RLUSD documentation states that reserves are held in segregated accounts and include short-term U.S. Treasury bills, government money market funds, overnight reverse repurchase agreements, and bank deposits. Deloitte conducts monthly reserve attestations, according to Ripple.

RWA.xyz data placed $RLUSD’s market cap at approximately $2.02 billion, up 31.45% over 30 days, with about $962.8 million issued on the $XRP Ledger and $1.05 billion on Ethereum. The two networks now carry nearly equal shares of $RLUSD supply, with less than $90 million separating them. Ripple issues the stablecoin natively on each chain rather than bridging a single pool, so the two balances account for nearly all of the $2.02 billion total.

Transaction activity on the Solana blockchain reached a record high in July, preceding a sharp rally that pushed SOL above $100 for the first time since February amid a broader crypto market recovery.

Onchain data presented by The Kobeissi Letter showed that Solana processed a record 4.2 billion transactions in July, up 13.5% from the previous month. Transaction counts have risen by roughly 2 billion since December, representing a 91% increase.

The growth has coincided with a broader expansion in tokenized real-world assets. The Kobeissi Letter cited RWA.xyz data showing that the value of distributed RWAs across tracked blockchain networks has climbed above $38 billion.

On Solana specifically, the value of tokenized real-world assets has climbed to nearly $4 billion, up roughly 11.8% over the past month.

The surge in network activity comes as SOL has rallied roughly 40% over eight days, with much of those gains coming alongside a broader crypto market rebound, according to CoinMarketCap data.

The rally accelerated after the US Treasury Department announced plans to double certain long-dated bond buybacks to at least $4 billion per operation, a move that pushed yields lower and helped lift risk appetite across crypto markets.
