The token’s market capitalization briefly reached $1.21 million before crashing more than 90% to under $120,000 after the promotional post was removed.The unauthorized post appeared on Jenner’s account, which has millions of followers, and included a direct link to a Pump.fun page and a Solana token contract address. Within minutes, traders rushed to buy the token, driving its price and market cap upward. However, once the post was deleted—either by Jenner’s team or X’s security systems—the token’s value plummeted, leaving late buyers with significant losses.

This incident is part of a broader trend of celebrity social media accounts being hijacked to promote cryptocurrency scams. In recent months, similar attacks have targeted other high-profile figures, exploiting their reach to manipulate token prices for quick profits.

The rapid rise and fall of this memecoin highlights the volatility and risk inherent in meme-based cryptocurrencies, especially those launched on platforms like Pump.fun. For affected dealers, SEC treatment can trigger registration, business-conduct, transaction-reporting, capital, margin, and segregation requirements. A platform may also come within the security-based swap execution framework, depending on its structure and any applicable execution or clearing mandate.

Dealer status and other duties depend on the participant and transaction, so classification would not automatically require every protocol developer or trader to register.
