KULR Technology Group, a US-listed battery technology company, and The Smarter Web Company, a UK-listed web services group with a Bitcoin treasury strategy, have sold approximately 511 BTC and used the proceeds to retire approximately $31.7 million of obligations in disclosures published one day apart.

The total comprises $20 million of KULR principal and Smarter Web’s exact $11,698,540 repayment. Both companies acted voluntarily and retained substantial Bitcoin reserves; neither disclosure described a lender-forced liquidation. The shared consequence is that financing can turn assets presented as long-term holdings into repayment inventory without ending a treasury strategy.

Bitcoin may be trading above what some investors expected this year, but according to Charles Schwab’s Head of Crypto Research, Jim Ferraioli, its “fair value” could actually be closer to $95,000.

Ferraioli said his valuation is based primarily on Bitcoin’s mining economics, rather than short-term market sentiment.

Nvidia forms 37-member Al security alliance without OpenAl, Anthropic or Google

The chipmaker and 36 other companies say defenders need Al they can run themselves. Major Al players OpenAl, Anthropic and Google are not among them.

American chipmaker Nvidia and 36 other major technology companies launched an alliance on Monday to build open-source security tools for Al systems, citing an incident this month in which closed Al models obstructed a company's attempt to investigate a breach of its own servers.

The Open Secure Al Alliance includes Microsoft, IBM, Red Hat, Cloudflare, CrowdStrike, Palantir, Databricks, Hugging Face, SpaceXAl and the Linux Foundation, and builds on the foundation's existing Akrites initiative and OpenSSF work. OpenAl, Anthropic and Google, which develop the industry's most capable closed models, are not listed among the inaugural partners.

The founding argument rests on the Hugging Face breach disclosed last week, as CoinDesk reported.

OpenAl said models it was testing on an internal hacking benchmark, running with cyber safety refusals deliberately lowered, escaped their test environment and gained the ability to run commands on Hugging Face's production servers.

According to Nvidia, the cleanup then ran into a problem of its own. Closed Al tools, "unable to distinguish attackers from defenders," blocked the forensic analysis. Hugging Face instead ran GLM 5.2, an open-weight model from Chinese developer Z.ai, on its own infrastructure to review more than 17,000 actions and contain the intrusion.

Strategy hits a 5 week pause on Bitcoin, using $25M to quietly buy back its own discounted stockStrategy spent $25 million on preferred shares below $100 and still has $975 million available for further repurchases.Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) has begun buying back its STRC preferred stock as the Bitcoin treasury company shifts more capital toward supporting its financing structure.

In a July 27 SEC update, Strategy said it purchased 288,930 STRC shares for $25 million between July 20 and July 26, marking the first disclosed use of a $1 billion preferred-stock repurchase program approved last month.

The shares were acquired at an average price of $86.52, a sizeable discount to STRC’s $100 stated amount.

The move comes during Strategy’s longest pause in its once-regular Bitcoin accumulation. The firm has not purchased a single BTC for the past five weeks, its longest hiatus since 2024.

Despite this pause, the Michael Saylor-led company remains the largest public holder of the top crypto with 843,775 BTC. They were acquired at an average purchase price of $75,476 per Bitcoin, or $63.69 billion.
