Crypto exchange BitMart to wind down trading platform by January 2027


BitMart will shut down its crypto trading platform through an orderly wind-down process after determining that current operating conditions, market circumstances and its long-term strategy no longer support continuing operations, the company said this week.

In a statement, the exchange said it will gradually stop accepting new users, suspend fiat and crypto deposits, prevent new futures positions and spot orders, and phase out copy trading, grid trading, API trading and other automated services beginning July 26, 2026.

Trading across spot and futures markets will cease on Aug. 26, while investment products including Earn, staking, lending and Launchpad will be retired separately. The exchange expects to officially cease platform operations on Jan. 31, 2027, although users will temporarily retain access to their accounts for withdrawals and historical records afterward.

Users are advised to withdraw assets as early as possible by completing KYC verification, closing open positions and submitting withdrawal requests before the Aug. 26 deadline.

The firm said withdrawals will remain available but may be subject to identity verification, blockchain risk analysis, Travel Rule compliance, sanctions screening and source-of-funds checks, with processing times potentially extended during periods of heavy demand.

30-Year Expert: "Capital Flowing into Artificial Intelligence Will Shift to Bitcoin'

Jordi Visser, a veteran of the macrofinance world, stated that the era of rapid 7-8 fold gains in the Al sector has stalled, and claimed that global capital and market dynamics will shift to Bitcoin and digital assets in the next major wave.

In a period where the growth rate of the Al rally has shifted gears due to capital expenditures (capex) and hardware bottlenecks, attention has once again turned to macroeconomic balances and the cryptocurrency market. Speaking on Anthony Pompliano's show, Jordi Visser, a macro investor with over 30 years of experience and founder of Al Macro Nexus / Al22 Research, argued that the "easy money" era in Al is over and that it's Bitcoin's turn in capital rotation.

Jordi Visser pointed out that the aggressive valuations seen in Al infrastructure investments and large language models (LLMs) have reached saturation point. Stating that the high interest rate environment and physical hardware limitations such as chip and memory shortages are putting pressure on company margins, Visser made the following assessment:

"The 'easy money' trading model, where massive returns of 7-8 times the initial investment were achieved through Al, has come to an end. This doesn't mean Al is dead; however, we've now entered a period of grueling and rational growth, typically around 30% annually. Capital is now seeking new avenues in terms of risk-return balance."

One desk can reconstruct a forward Bitcoin position from matching calls and puts on BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), while another can obtain comparable price exposure through a cash-settled CME Bitcoin futures contract with a similar maturity.

While the economic risk is closely related, the financing cost isn't.

A May 2026 study by Purdue University professor Mindy Mallory compared 386 matched observations and found that the annualized carry embedded in CME Bitcoin futures exceeded the fee-adjusted carry reconstructed from IBIT options by an average of 2.581 percentage points, with a median difference of 2.521 points.

Applied purely as an illustration, a 2.581-point annualized difference on a $1 billion position would correspond to approximately $25.81 million over a full year, although the paper doesn't describe the wedge as a fixed fee and found that it varied substantially across dates, occasionally reversing direction entirely.

U.S. regulator warns prediction markets against cutting corners in event contracts



The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, which has claimed a role as the leading regulator of prediction markets firms run by companies such as Kalshi, Coinbase, Polymarket and Crypto.com, issued an advisory on Friday reminding the businesses that they shouldn't cut corners with far-ranging contract certifications meant to encompass a wide array of events.

The agency said that "broad, template-style certifications should not be submitted," marking the second time in recent months that the regulator has had to warn about overly generalized submissions.

Many of the "designated contract markets" regulated by the CFTC "continue to self-certify event contracts" (in other words, prediction market contracts) as broad templates "without supplying the terms and conditions of each proposed permutation and a concise explanation and analysis with respect to the product’s terms and conditions, the underlying commodity, and the product’s compliance," the agency said.
