On-Chain Data Shows Why Bitcoin’s Next Stop Could Be At $82K
The Bitcoin price has not particularly impressed over the past two weeks, but it appears to have steadied its movement within a clear consolidation range. In its latest attempt to shine, the premier cryptocurrency faced fierce resistance around $74,000 on Friday, March 13.

Interestingly, the latest on-chain data suggests that the $74,000 resistance might not be the barrier it appears to be. According to a prominent crypto analyst on the social media platform X, the Bitcoin price seems to have a free runway to return to above the $80,000 mark.

$BTC Price Has Free Runway To $82,000: Analyst

Market pundit Ali Martinez took to the X platform to share an on-chain insight into the Bitcoin price movement over the coming weeks, with a return to around $82,000 looking more likely with no obstacles. This on-chain observation is based on the UTXO Realized Price Distribution (URPD) metric, which shows the next relevant levels for $BTC.

The URPD metric shows how critical a price level is by tracking the volume of cryptocurrency purchased at a specific level. This is because the capacity for a Bitcoin price level to function as a support or resistance zone usually depends on the number of $BTC investors who have their cost basis at the given level.

Typically, price levels below the current spot value with substantial buying activity are often considered major support regions. Meanwhile, levels above the current price with significant investor cost bases usually function as major resistance areas.

According to Martinez, the Bitcoin price has entered a low-resistance region, with barely any obstacles in its way until around $82,045. This puts into question the rejection recently faced around the $74,000 mark, which has insignificant investor activity per the UTXO Realized Price Distri

A recent report from Bitcointreasuries.net has highlighted a significant shift in the behavior of Bitcoin (BTC) treasuries, revealing that the number of sales has outpaced purchases for the first time in February.

Bitcoin Treasuries Experience Net Decrease

According to the report, public companies engaged in treasury strategies purchased or disclosed nearly 7,800 BTC worth approximately $522 million at the end of February 2026.

Notably, about two-thirds of these acquisitions were attributed to a single entity, Michael Saylor’s Strategy (previously MicroStrategy), while just six other companies accounted for the rest. 

However, selling activity overshadowed these additions, with various public treasuries collectively selling or reducing their holdings by approximately 8,600 BTC. This resulted in a net decrease of around 800 BTC for the month.

Trump-Linked American Bitcoin Adds 11,298 ASICs, Boosts Hashrate

American Bitcoin (ABTC) is expanding its Bitcoin mining operations by purchasing 11,298 new ASIC equipment.

The acquisition is expected to increase the company’s total capacity by 12%, supporting its strategy of accumulating $BTC through mining operations.

The 12% Capacity Expansion

ABTC said in a March 3 press release that the new miners will add 3.05 exahash per second (EH/s) to its owned capacity, with the machines scheduled for deployment in March 2026 at the Drumheller site in Alberta, Canada.

Each unit is expected to operate at an efficiency rate of approximately 13.5 joules per terahash (J/TH), compared with the company’s current fleet average of 16 J/TH.

“As Bitcoin matures, the priority is clear: grow American-owned, professionally operated hashrate,” said co-founder Eric Trump. “That’s how we protect the network, drive innovation, and lead the future of Bitcoin in America.”

Following this purchase, American Bitcoin’s owned fleet will increase by 12% to 89,242 miners, representing about 28.1 EH/s of total owned capacity. The managed fleet contains all miners held by the company, including units that may not currently be operational.

Once the new equipment is online, the working fleet will comprise 58,999 miners delivering around 25.0 EH/s with an average efficiency of approximately 14.1 J/TH. For comparison, the largest publicly listed $BTC miners currently operate at roughly 50 EH/s.

Bitcoin Accumulation Strategy

Matt Prusak, president of ABTC, said the company makes every decision to maximize its accumulation of the OG cryptocurrency. The miner firm previously reported that it ended 2025 with 5,041 $BTC on its balance sheet, which has since grown to more than 6,000 $BTC.

This is my fourth article on Strategy and the Bitcoin Treasury model:

The first was an introduction to Strategy, where I clarified some common misconceptions about the model.

The second explained the "full-stack treasury company" model and the mechanism supporting its NAV positive premium.

The third introduced the preferred stock model, a brand-new model Strategy launched in 2025 and currently the company's main strategy.

In this article, we'll focus on STRC. It has now become MSTR's main preferred stock product and is currently the core focus of Michael Saylor (Strategy founder) and his management team.

 TL;DR

STRC is a yield-generating instrument backed by Strategy's Bitcoin treasury, with a dynamically adjusted dividend yield to keep the price close to par value ($100). Currently, you can earn an annualized yield of 11.5% (paid monthly) on a relatively stable and risk-transparent instrument.

STRC is essentially Strategy's way of translating yield demand into structural buying pressure on BTC. As long as Strategy operates both the STRC and MSTR ATM issuance mechanisms simultaneously (and mNAV > 1), this structure can scale significantly without increasing MSTR leverage. This means Strategy can absorb billions of dollars (or more) of new demand for STRC while maintaining leverage at approximately 33% and keeping credit risk unchanged.

By maintaining leverage through the common stock ATM mechanism, approximately $3 of BTC is added to the treasury for every $1 of STRC issued.  Ro
