U.S. Spot Bitcoin ETFs See $61.1M Net Outflow, Reversing One-Day Inflow Streak



Bullish (BLSH), the crypto platform and parent company of CoinDesk, reported second-quarter net loss of $280 million, on Thursday, compared to $108.3 million for the equivalent period a year earlier.

Most of that headline loss was due to a $244.6 million markdown of the company’s bitcoin holdings as the price of BTC fell throughout the quarter.

Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization came in at $29.5 million, versus $8.1 million a year earlier. Adjusted net income was $14.3 million, compared with a $6 million loss in the second quarter of 2025.

Adjusted revenue of $92.6 million, a 62% increase from $57 million a year earlier, as growth in subscriptions and services offset softer trading conditions.

Subscription, services and other revenue reached a record $62.7 million. Adjusted transaction revenue rose to $29.9 million from $24.1 million, even as digital asset sales fell to $32.6 billion from $58.6 billion.

Bullish forecast full-year subscription, services and other revenue of $225 million to $245 million. Its proposed acquisition of Equiniti remains on track to close in early 2027.

Bitcoin volatility hits 2-year lows – Is a major price move brewing?

The Bitcoin long-term holder stress was rising, but has not yet reached previous cycle depths.

On Monday, August 10, the U.S. spot Bitcoin [BTC] ETF flows measured a negative $144.6 million. It broke a streak of positive flows for five consecutive trading days, which had brought in $865.3 million.

At the same time, Bitcoin was also down just over 3% from Sunday’s local high at $65,474. The $65k-$67k is a key supply zone, and the inability to climb past this barrier hinted at bearish control in the market.

The longer-term bearish trend is prevalent in the price charts. The liquidation levels to the south can attract Bitcoin toward $57k, and the turnaround in spot ETF flows was another warning sign.
There was also evidence for compressed volatility. This could make the leading crypto’s price action more interesting in the coming weeks.

Bitcoin holders eye 60M milestone – Will it lift BTC’s price to a record high?

Spot demand has been negative and could derail BTC's recovery in the short term.

Grayscale is confident that Bitcoin is nearing the end of its bear market amid record adoption. According to the digital asset manager, the wallets with non-zero Bitcoin balances have edged closer to the 60M mark. 

For Grayscale, this meant strong adoption despite the prolonged crypto winter that began last October. The firm’s Head of Research, Zach Pandl, reiterated that the adoption will accelerate in the medium and long term regardless of the current price action.

The Bitcoin bear market has not changed our expectation for rising Bitcoin adoption over time.

The 4-hour chart presented a slightly different picture though.

The OBV saw a recent uptick, indicating that buyers had started to build some momentum. However, buying needs to continue to defend its $6.21 4-hour support level and push $AVAX higher.

Furthermore, the RSI rose to 56 while the MACD crossed above its signal line and approached the zero line. This hinted at the strengthening of the altcoin’s short-term momentum.

However, with the zero line yet to be breached and the daily chart remaining neutral, the move could still prove to be a short-term spike, rather than the start of a sustained uptrend.

Bitcoin Price May Be Battered, but Structural Adoption Story Still Intact: GrayscaleBitcoin’s price has shown signs of stabilizing after a rough stretch, but even setting aside where prices go in the near term, asset manager Grayscale says adoption of the cryptocurrency over the medium and long run remains largely unchanged.

The reason: continued, unsustainable growth in government debt as a factor that keeps inflation and currency-debasement risk elevated.

That backdrop, Grayscale argues, could push a widening range of investors toward scarce assets and alternative stores of value — a category where Bitcoin, with its fixed supply, is increasingly well positioned as a candidate.

It added that the adoption of stablecoins and tokenization are set to make blockchain infrastructure commonplace across financial services. Top banks and asset managers have piled into the tokenization space the past year and are fast adopting crypto technology.

Grayscale argues that as that spreads, more banks, brokerages, and other intermediaries will have both the technical rails and regulatory clarity needed to hold and transact in Bitcoin — eroding the wall that has historically kept it structurally separate from mainstream finance.

“As the spread of the technology continues, many more intermediaries will have the necessary infrastructure (and regulatory clarity) to transact and store balances in Bitcoin — it will no longer be structurally apart from the rest of the financial system,” the note by the firm’s head of research, Zach Pandl, reads.

The firm added that younger investors show a markedly higher appetite for digital assets, and alternative investments have become a standard portfolio component rather than a fringe allocation.

The analysis expects institutions, wealth platforms, and individual investors alike to keep folding Bitcoin into diversified portfolios — largely through exchange-traded products, a shift it describes as already well underway.
