A former financial advisor who worked for financial services giants Morgan Stanley and Wells Fargo has been convicted of defrauding three NBA players out of millions of dollars and splurging the funds to purchase luxury items and pay personal bills. The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) says that 52-year-old Daryl Cohen used his position to mastermind a scheme that stole $5 million from three NBA players - Jrue Holiday, Chandler Parsons and Courtney Lee. Authorities say that between 2017 and 2020, Cohen and a co-conspirator caused the trio of players to purchase unnecessary life insurance policies with markups of 200% or more, pocketing millions of dollars and using them to make home renovations, credit card payments, and as gifts to others. Furthermore, Cohen moved $500,000 from the accounts of Lee and Parsons as "donations" to Beast Basketball. However, neither Lee or Parsons authorized such transactions and when confronted, Cohen told Parsons that his funds were going to underprivileged children, when in reality, they were mostly used to fund a gym at Cohen's house. Lastly, Cohen used a sports agency and a law firm to fraudulently use $328,125 of Parsons's money to repay a disgruntled MLB player who was a client of his.Cohen has been convicted of one count of wire fraud and one count of investment advisor fraud and faces up to 25 years in prison.Generated Image: Midjourney

The primary cryptocurrency registered a renewed uptick over the past hours, with its price soaring past $74,000 before it faced an immediate rejection.

The broader outlook remains bearish, with $BTC still trading far below its all-time high of over $126,000 reached last October. Analysts have highlighted several key resistance levels that must be reclaimed before bulls can regain full control.

More Gains Ahead?

The impressive revival comes on the back of Donald Trump’s recent remarks that Iran is “about to surrender” as well as the reports that the newly elected leader of the Asian country, Mojtaba Khamenei (who is the son of the late Ali Khamenei), is “likely disfigured.”

$BTC’s pump has caught the attention of multiple market observers, and some expect the rally to go on in the short term. X user Ted noted that Coinbase Premium is rising, indicating solid spot demand. He believes that holding above the $70,000 zone could lead to further gains of around $76,000.

The analyst who goes by the moniker Ardi on X claimed that the leading digital asset needs to flip the $74,000 resistance into support to actually “start looking macro bullish again.” If it could achieve that, the valuation might surge to $85,000, he added. At the same time, he warned that anything below that mark is “just price setting a macro lower high in a downtrend.”

Certain indicators suggest the asset could continue marching north. Data from SoSoValue show that over the past few days, inflows into spot $BTC ETFs have outpaced outflows. This is a clear bullish factor that displays that institutional investors, such as pension funds, hedge funds, and asset managers, have been increasing their exposure to cryptocurrency. This Thursday, Metaplanet announced the launch of its new venture capital and asset management divisions. Through these, approximately 4 billion yen will be allocated to the development of Bitcoin infrastructure, with funds channeled via Metaplanet Ventures and Metaplanet Asset Management to finance startups, project incubators, and open-source grants over the next three years.


The Tokyo-listed firm seeks to consolidate Japan as a central hub for digital asset companies, focusing on critical segments such as payments, custody, and BTC derivatives. Although Metaplanet reported annual losses of $605 million due to market volatility, its CEO, Simon Gerovich, maintains that after establishing a solid regulatory framework, the country now requires the technical infrastructure to lead the industry. The initiative aims to diversify the company’s revenue streams and reduce its direct exposure to token prices.

Ledger’s own security team just exposed a hardware flaw in MediaTek chips that lets anyone with physical access to your phone pull your PIN and seed phrase before your phone even boots. USB cable, done. No software patch can fix it either. It is baked into the chip.

The Dimensity 7300 is the chip in question. It affects roughly 25% of all Android devices. Even the Solana Seeker phone is on the list.
MediaTek was told about this back in May 2025. The fix? There is not one. If you have the chip, you have the vulnerability.

For anyone storing real money on a mobile wallet, this one hurts.

How the Boot ROM Exploit Bypasses Android Security

The flaw lives in the boot ROM. That is the code burned into the chip at the factory. It cannot be updated. Ever.
Ledger’s team used electromagnetic pulses to mess with the chip mid-startup. Perfectly timed voltage glitches that force the processor to skip its own security checks. Once that happens, the attacker hits EL3 privilege.

That is the highest level of control possible on ARM architecture. Full access. Game over.

In testing, they pulled it off in about 1 second per attempt.
From there, the entire data partition gets decrypted offline. Private keys, PINs, everything your trusted execution environment was supposed to protect. Gone.

No app-level security saves you here. The foundation itself is broken.
