With the broader crypto market on a hedge, amid reduced liquidity, altcoins have suffered significantly. Altcoins saw a sharp drop in demand, and capital inflows dried up while the capitulation rate soared.

As the market continued to decline, most holders panicked and closed positions, causing massive downside pressure on the market.

That’s why these tokens declined massively, leading to substantial losses on their price charts.

38% of altcoins are trading near ATLs

Amid a prolonged market decline, the altcoins‘ market cap dropped by over 48%, from a peak of $1.9 trillion to $981 billion.

Such a massive drop reflected capital exits and increased rotation into other assets as investors sought better alternatives.

With capital leaving altcoins, most of these coins have declined significantly from their 2025 peaks and ATHs. According to Crypto Rover, over 38% of active altcoins are currently trading near their all-time lows.

Take Lighter [LIT], for example: the altcoin traded 2.6% above its all-time low and 86% below its ATH, as of writing. The same fate holds for Ethena [ENA], which traded 7% above its ATL and 93% below its ATH of $1.52.

Thirdly, World Liberty Financial [WLFI] traded only 6% above its ATL and 69% below its ATH at press time.

With these crypto coins experiencing such massive losses, it’s safe to say it’s not an altcoin season, as the Altcoin Season Index sat around 43% at press time.

Also, the CoinMarketCap Altcoin Season Index stood at around 38, suggesting that more altcoins have underperformed relative to Bitcoin.

The dominant assets, like Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), strive to recover from the recent losses. Meanwhile, Ripple’s XRP has spiked by over 0.52% in the last 24 hours.

The asset’s price has experienced heavy volatility with the potential bears in action, and its current lowest and highest trading range falls between $1.33 and $1.37. At press time, XRP trades at $1.35, with its daily trading volume having surged by over 62.6% to $1.89 billion. Besides, the market has seen a $3.77 million liquidation of XRP.

XRP’s four-hour timeframe is ruled by bears, and the price might slip to the key support range at around $1.32. If the downside correction intensifies, the death cross could emerge and send the price toward $1.29 or even lower.

U.S. Treasury signals shift on crypto mixers, acknowledges legitimate privacy use

After years of opposition to crypto mixers, the onchain services that obfuscate digital asset transactions, the U.S. Treasury Department now says they may have legitimate privacy uses as well as their much-trumpeted criminal applications.

In a report related to the implementation of the Genius Act, the Treasury acknowledged that mixing services can serve lawful purposes on public blockchains. These include shielding personal finances, business transactions and charitable donations from being publicly traceable. The department noted that privacy tools can coexist with compliance when properly designed, for example, through record-keeping or other safeguards.

“As consumers increase their use of digital assets for payments, individuals may want to use mixers to maintain more privacy of their consumer spending habits,” the Treasury noted in the report.

The mixers, which obscure the origin and destination of digital asset transactions by pooling users’ funds together, have long been controversial in Washington. In 2022, the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) blacklisted the Ethereum-based mixer Tornado Cash, accusing it of facilitating the laundering of billions in illicit crypto tied to North Korea’s Lazarus hacking group. The sanctions effectively barred Americans from using the tool and ignited one of the most contentious regulatory fights in crypto.

In 2025, the government removed Tornado Cash from the list following legal challenges and an appellate court decision questioning the Treasury’s authority to impose sanctions on open-source smart contracts. According to data from crypto analytics platform Cryptoquant, the daily number of active addresses on the $XRP network has fallen to 14.809. This marks the lowest level reached since Feb. 22.

Although the decline in active $XRP addresses over the past day is only mild, it appears to have been triggered by the broader crypto market downturn.

Notably, the metric is a typical indication of lesser demand in $XRP’s network activities as fewer wallets are transacting amid fading momentum.

Following the decrease in active addresses, it is evident that $XRP's short-term momentum is increasingly growing weaker, which could trigger more downside pressure for $XRP’s price.

$XRP set for price switch

While the metric plays a major role in predicting the asset’s potential performance, it is unlikely that the recent decrease in active $XRP addresses could cause any major impact on its potential price action, considering its mild difference.

Despite the decline seen in the metric, $XRP’s price is gradually flipping to the green zone, as it is currently showing a decent price decline of only 0.04% over the past 24 hours.
