Strategy plans to repurchase $1.5B in 2029 notes for $1.38B, with funding possible from cash, equity sales or Bitcoin sales.Strategy Inc. shares have fallen during intraday trading after the company disclosed plans to repurchase about $1.5 billion in principal amount of its outstanding 0% Convertible Senior Notes due 2029.The company said in an 8-K filing that it agreed to buy back the notes for an estimated $1.38 billion in cash through privately negotiated transactions. The deal is expected to settle around May 19, after which the repurchased notes will be cancelled.

Strategy said funding may come from cash reserves, at-the-market equity sales, Bitcoin sales, or a combination of those sources. The possible use of Bitcoin sales drew attention because the company is the world’s largest listed corporate holder of BTC.At press time, MSTR was trading at $177.11 during Friday’s session, down 5.27%. The stock opened at $182.11, reached an intraday high of $182.23, and touched a low of $174.34. Its market capitalization stood at $62.74 billion.

Strategy Leverages Preferred Stock Issuance for $2 Billion Bitcoin Buy

Strategy purchased 24,869 Bitcoin last week for $2 billion, channeling billions of dollars that came from its flagship preferred stock.
Strategy unveiled its largest Bitcoin purchase in roughly a month on Monday, channeling billions of dollars into the digital asset as its flagship preferred stock crossed its ex-dividend date.

Investors had until last Friday to purchase Stretch (STRC), which currently offers an 11.5% annual dividend, to receive the product’s next monthly cash distribution. Amid heightened demand, the company issued nearly $2 billion worth of preferred shares.

With a burst of fresh capital, the Tysons Corner, Virginia-based firm scooped up 24,869 Bitcoin for $2 billion last week—Strategy’s largest acquisition in nearly a month. The move expanded the company’s holdings to 843,738 Bitcoin, a sum recently valued at $64.4 billion.

Scrutiny toward Strategy’s reliance on STRC as a way to fuel purchases intensified earlier this year as Bitcoin plunged to an 18-month low. However, the company's latest acquisition shows activity tied to the dividend-paying product is becoming increasingly routine.

The last time Strategy purchased as much Bitcoin, the company had just raised approximately $2.2 billion via STRC. The preferred stock is engineered to trade near its $100 par value, and when it trades above that threshold, Strategy can grow its holdings by issuing fresh shares. The company is currently seeking to shift STRC to a bimonthly dividend cadence.

The Bitcoin-buying firm’s shares recently changed hands at $163.58, a more than 7% decrease, according to Yahoo Finance. Over the past month, the company’s stock price has risen nearly 2%, outpacing Bitcoin’s 0.4% climb over the same period.

A Korean market report based on the exchange notice said deposits opened within about 90 minutes of the announcement, while spot trading was set for 4:00 p.m. local time. The listing gives users three routes to trade the token, including a direct Korean won market.

Upbit also applied listing-day controls. The report said buy orders were blocked for about five minutes after trading opened.

Sell orders priced more than 10% below the previous CoinMarketCap closing price were also restricted during the first five minutes. For about two hours, the exchange allowed only limit orders.

$TRAC moved sharply after the Upbit update. CoinGecko data showed $TRAC trading at $0.4607, up 39.4% over 24 hours. The same tracker listed a 24-hour range between $0.3228 and $0.6028, with volume at about $38.65 million.

Notably, OriginTrail describes itself as an ecosystem built around trusted AI-ready knowledge assets. Its platform uses a Decentralized Knowledge Graph and NeuroWeb blockchain to organize data for AI search, enterprise use and information verification.

The project’s whitepaper says OriginTrail aims to build a “Verifiable Internet” by combining crypto, internet and AI. It also introduces decentralized retrieval-augmented generation and knowledge graph tools aimed at data provenance and integrity.

Upbit supports $TRAC deposits and withdrawals only through the Ethereum network, according to Korean reports of the exchange notice. The contract address listed was 0xaa7a9ca87d3694b5755f213b5d04094b8d0f0a6f. Users sending $TRAC over unsupported networks may face delays or failed crediting.
