It’s like the GBTC premium, but in Chinese silver

Amid a speculative frenzy in silver, the Shenzen-traded UBS SDIC Silver Futures Fund LOF has repeatedly halted trading, warned of an “unsustainable premium” in its share price, and paused primary-market subscriptions to limit cash inflows.

It has also warned that if the premium doesn’t effectively retreat by February 2, the State Development Investment Corporation (SDIC) will apply for additional trading suspensions.

Year to date, the fund is up 133%. Silver, in contrast, has rallied a more modest but still impressive 52% over the same time period.

It’s the GBTC Premium all over again

Before the SEC approved the conversion of Barry Silbert’s Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC) from an over-the-counter trust into an ETF, it only loosely tracked the price of bitcoin ($BTC).

Its brief yet famous “GBTC Premium” occurred when the fund traded for more than double the value of the corresponding $BTC.

Indeed, during periods of bullish demand for $BTC price exposure via a severely limited set of securities trading on US exchanges, the price of GBTC exceeded 130% the value of its $BTC holdings on June 1, 2017 and again on September 1, 2017.

Incredibly, retail investors bid a premium for GBTC for months, allowing accredited investors to enjoy a nearly riskless arbitrage by giving Grayscale $BTC directly and waiting a discreet interval of a few weeks to receive GBTC shares at its premium-free net asset value (NAV).

Indeed, the GBTC premium persisted from August 2015 through late February 2021. At that time, investors doubted Silbert’s ability to convince outgoing SEC Chairman Jay Clayton and incoming Chairman Gary Gensler to approve GBTC’s conversion into a spot ETF.

Bitcoin Plunge Could Get Much Worse as Death Cross Gains Power

The crypto market is facing an identity crisis. While gold blasted past $5,600 per ounce and silver topped $121 this week, Bitcoin has been getting hammered. It's a painful reminder that when macro uncertainty hits, investors still reach for traditional safe havens first—and crypto second, if at all.


All three assets are billed as stores of value, hedges against currency debasement and government overreach. But gold and silver are casually adding hundreds of billions in market value in a matter of days while BTC bleeds.


Why? Rising odds of a U.S. government shutdown, Fed uncertainty, and the looming threat of Japanese yen intervention have investors scrambling for assets with decades of crisis-tested reliability.

Bitcoin's 15-year track record just doesn't cut it when fear takes over, and the altcoin market is bleeding even more, with Dogecoin, XRP and other coins posting severe losses.

Bitcoin was recently trading at $83,405, down 6.46% or $5,763 from yesterday's levels. The price has sliced through multiple support zones on its way down from January's high near $97,000, and the technical picture suggests this isn't over yet.


The death cross—when the 50-day Exponential Moving Average crosses below the 200-day EMA—is Bitcoin's most ominous long-term bearish signal.


Think of it like this: The short-term average represents where traders have been buying recently, and the long-term average shows where investors have positioned over months. When the short-term mark dips below the long-term, it means recent buyers are underwater, and the market structure is turning decisively bearish. This pattern has historically preceded major Bitcoin drawdowns, including the brutal 2022 collapse and the 2018 bear market.

Dogecoin Price May Continue to Fall If This Fails, Analyst


Dogecoin's price is facing renewed pressure as market watchers warn that the meme coin may not be out of the woods yet. A cryptocurrency analyst warns that unless Dogecoin meets certain key conditions, its continued weakness could trigger another price crash, further extending the bearish trend.


Dogecoin Price May Continue Its Downtrend


Like many meme coins, Dogecoin is experiencing a severe decline after failing to break through key resistance levels. This continued rejection is maintaining selling pressure and preventing a sustained rally in the $DOGE price. As a result, Dogecoin's bearish structure, which has been in place for several months, shows no signs of weakening. Bulls also face significant headwinds, leaving Dogecoin vulnerable to further declines as long as it trades below key levels.


 According to cryptocurrency expert KrissPax, Dogecoin remains weak and could continue its already strong downtrend unless its price recovers. He explained that without a strong bullish catalyst to boost the price, the meme coin could experience another crash.


KrissPax provided a TradingView chart showing how far he believes Dogecoin could fall if it fails to regain market interest and demand. First, the chart highlights a descending channel on the higher timeframe that began after the broader market crash on October 10, 2025. At that time, Dogecoin experienced one of its largest single-day price declines, falling from over $0.26 to under $0.10 before quickly recovering.

Following this sharp decline, Dogecoin's price remained within the descending channel, and its overall structure reflected a bearish trend.  Typically, a descending channel will intensify downward pressure unless a decisive breakout occurs. Dogecoin has attempted several recovery attempts
