At $71,000 per Bitcoin, $5,000 gets you about 0.070 BTC, while the same capital gets you roughly 3,571 XRP at $1.40 per token.

Bitcoin at $71,000 is 44% below its October 2025 peak, and although $5,000 buys you a small chunk of the asset, BTC is more institutionally entrenched than it’s ever been. Spot Bitcoin ETFs have absorbed about 1.3 million BTC since they launched in January 2024, which is actually more than what’s currently sitting on all exchanges combined. Only 5.8% of Bitcoin’s total supply is still on exchanges right now—the lowest since 2017. The Bitcoin price dropped because leveraged positions got blown up and macro conditions turned hostile, not because institutions stopped wanting Bitcoin.

Wall Street research firm Bernstein recently called this the “weakest bear case in history” because none of the typical triggers for a deep crypto winter—exchange collapses, regulatory crackdowns, or broken protocols—have shown up in this cycle. Your $5,000 in BTC buys you the most liquid, most institutionally backed crypto asset in the market at a steep discount to where Wall Street expects it to be by December. The only issue is that $5,000 doesn’t buy you enough BTC such that when the price increases, it might not move much.

Sweden probes reported leak of e-government platform source code

A threat actor has claimed to have leaked source code and other sensitive material tied to Sweden's e-government platform, prompting an investigation by Swedish authorities and an incident response by CGI Sverige.

Cybersecurity accounts on X and local media reported Thursday that a threat actor calling itself ByteToBreach had published material it said came from CGI Sverige, the Swedish subsidiary of global IT giant CGI Group, and Sweden's e-government infrastructure, according to local news outlet Aftonbladet.

CGI told Aftonbladet its cybersecurity team discovered an incident involving two internal test servers in Sweden that were not used in production. The company said an older application version and its source code were accessible, but that there was no indication that customer production data or operational services were affected. CGI press secretary Agneta Hansson confirmed to the news outlet that authorities are investigating the leak.

About 95% of Sweden's 10.7 million population used e-government services in 2024, according to Eurostat data.

The leaked files could include the platform's source code and configuration files, internal staff database, citizens' personally identifiable information databases, electronic signing documents and other sensitive data.

February Marks First Drop For Bitcoin Treasuries: Sales Outnumber Purchases By 800 BTC

A recent report from Bitcointreasuries.net has highlighted a significant shift in the behavior of Bitcoin (BTC) treasuries, revealing that the number of sales has outpaced purchases for the first time in February.

Bitcoin Treasuries Experience Net Decrease

According to the report, public companies engaged in treasury strategies purchased or disclosed nearly 7,800 BTC worth approximately $522 million at the end of February 2026.

Notably, about two-thirds of these acquisitions were attributed to a single entity, Michael Saylor’s Strategy (previously MicroStrategy), while just six other companies accounted for the rest. 

However, selling activity overshadowed these additions, with various public treasuries collectively selling or reducing their holdings by approximately 8,600 BTC. This resulted in a net decrease of around 800 BTC for the month.

A stronger dollar usually hits crypto badly on paper. However, Bitcoin did not crack right away, and that made this setup more interesting.

After six straight red candles, that was not nothing. Price kept trading around $70K and held its ground while the broader macro backdrop stayed messy. 

Final Thoughts
The Fed added support, but markets still priced only a 0.6% chance of a rate cut.
If Bitcoin kept holding near $70K, bears would have a much harder time calling for weakness.

The market is currently getting close to the 81 trillion token threshold, and one of the most significant developments is the return of exchange inflows, which have driven the total amount of $SHIB held on trading platforms back toward the 80 trillion token mark.

The entire quantity of a cryptocurrency that is accessible on centralized exchanges is represented by exchange reserves. An increase in these balances usually means that more holders are moving assets to exchanges, usually in preparation for a sale or to boost liquidity.

This is a particularly significant trend for Shiba Inu.

Declining exchange reserves frequently helped maintain price stability during earlier stages of recovery by lessening the immediate pressure to sell.

Inflows ruined picture

The recent resurgence of inflows, however, raises the possibility that some holders are preparing to pull out of the market in the event that price momentum declines once more.
