Bitcoin retreats below $80,000, liquidating $300 million in futures betsBitcoin tumbled back below $80,000 late Thursday after the U.S. launched fresh airstrikes in Iran, causing brent crude oil to briefly top $100 per barrel before giving back a portion of gains during Asia and European hours.

The crypto market was already slightly jittery after Strategy chairman Michael Saylor said that the company would consider selling bitcoin to cover dividend payments from its STRC, a u-turn from its previous "never sell" strategy.

Ether (ETH) is trading at $2,280 having lost 0.2% since midnight UTC and around 2% over the past 24 hours, with other altcoins like monero (XMR) and dash (DASH) losing between 4% and 5%.

The broader crypto recovery remains intact with bitcoin having rallied from $65,000 in late March, although it's worth noting that a drop below $75,000 would negate the recent string of higher lows and would signal a reversion to the pervious trading range.

Block Inc. [NYSE: XYZ], the payments company led by Jack Dorsey, accelerated gross profit growth to 27% year over year in the first quarter of 2026.

It reached $2.91 billion and surpassed its own guidance, as strength across its subsidiaries, Cash App and Square, pushed adjusted operating margins to record levels.

The San Francisco-based payments company reported adjusted operating income of $728 million for the three months ended on the 31st of March, representing a 56% year-over-year increase that lifted adjusted operating margin to 25%, the highest in the company’s history.

Shares climbed roughly 4% in after-hours trading following the release of the shareholder letter, with the stock briefly reaching $75 in pre-market trading for the first time since April 1.

Imagine checking your portfolio and seeing Bitcoin priced at two cents. Not two thousand. Not two hundred. Two pennies. That’s what some Revolut users say they experienced on Friday, in what appears to be one of the more spectacular display glitches in recent crypto app history.

The price snapped back to normal levels almost immediately, and no major exchange tracked by CoinGecko or CoinMarketCap showed any corresponding anomaly. Bitcoin was trading just above $79,000 during Asian afternoon hours on Friday. The incident appeared entirely isolated to Revolut’s platform.

Revolut’s official Bitcoin page showed BTC briefly marked around £29,414 on its one-day chart before returning near £58,600. That alone would have been a jarring drop. But social media posts from users painted an even wilder picture, with some claiming they saw prices as low as $0.02.

CoinDesk reported it could not independently verify those near-zero prints or confirm whether any trades were actually executed at those levels. Revolut had not responded to CoinDesk’s request for comment by the time that report was published.

Some users on X claimed buy orders executed during the disruption. Those reports also remain unconfirmed. If trades were indeed filled at those levels, Revolut would face the unenviable task of determining whether the prints reflected legitimate liquidity, stale quotes, a routing issue, or a straight-up pricing error on the platform’s side.

Here’s the thing. The day before the incident, Bitcoin was trading at around $81,022. So even the “less extreme” dip to £29,414 visible on Revolut’s chart represented a massive disconnect from reality. The $0.02 figure, if accurate, would be the kind of number that makes risk managers lose sleep for weeks.

The Value of Bitcoin Dropped to 2 Cents on a Cryptocurrency ExchangeA notable price anomaly occurred in the cryptocurrency market. On the UK-based fintech platform Revolut, the price of Bitcoin briefly dropped to approximately $0.019.

According to screenshots shared by users on the social media platform X, the Bitcoin price appeared to some users today as just a few cents.

The incident at Revolut, which has over 70 million global users, was reported to be very brief, with prices quickly returning to normal levels. Users speculated that the event may have been caused by a display error, a sudden price deviation due to liquidity, or an order book error.

On the other hand, the price data on Revolut’s official website presented a different picture than what X users shared. According to the data on the platform, the Bitcoin price fell below the $39,900 level around 10:15 AM Turkish time on May 8th. However, this drop was quickly reversed.

There has been no official statement so far regarding whether any users have purchased Bitcoin at these unusually low prices.

Arkham Brings On-Chain Intelligence to Prediction Markets With New Analytics Suite


Data from Artemis shows that prediction markets notched up over $74 billion in volume in Q1 this year, an increase of around 76% from the previous quarter and the strongest one by a long shot. The numbers show that adoption has shot through the roof but until now, there hasn’t been a solid intelligence layer in this space. Arkham has just changed that.

The blockchain intelligence firm announced via an X post that they were rolling out a complete analytics suite for prediction markets, pulling from the same deanonymization engine it built to track crypto whales. This massive catalogue includes 3.5 billion address labels and 800,000 verified entities built up since 2022. The suite gives users the ability to track top traders by PNL, monitor any open positions, examine and analyze win rates and look out for any real-time activity in the space.

What the Suite Actually Does

In essence, Arkham has built a PNL-ranked leaderboard of traders in prediction markets that lets users look into any individual’s full trading history. This includes every open and closed trade, alongside lifetime PNL, ROI, win rate and a performance graph over time. The platform also runs a live tape of trades across the entire prediction market space, filtered by category so users can see who is buying what in real-time.

Arkham’s X post highlighted this in practice with an example. A trader by the name of Theo4 shows a $22 million lifetime PNL and an 88.9% win rate. The majority of this came from a single trade which was a $14.4 million win on correctly predicting Trump would win the popular vote in 2024. Since Monday, bitcoin is up 1.98% this morning, while ethereum is down 1.60%. Investors of all stripes were cautiously heading into the day ahead of the latest monthly job numbers and following violent escalations between the U.S. and Iran on Thursday. The jobs report was, in fact, a positive report, and at least some encouraging traction in Middle East peace talks this weekend should be enough to keep bitcoin over the $80,000 threshold and keep ethereum near the $2,300 mark, which it has been all week.
