Will Solana price break out of its symmetrical triangle as a daily MACD crossover confirms?

Solana price is at $83.37 on April 14, down 3.63% on the session, as a symmetrical triangle formed on the daily chart over the past two months continues to compress price action toward its apex. A daily MACD bullish crossover has now printed inside the pattern, adding a momentum signal to a setup that traders and analysts are watching closely for directional resolution.

Solana ($SOL) price is trading at $83.37 on April 14 with 24-hour volume of $6.28 billion, as a symmetrical triangle tightens on the daily chart. The pattern has been compressing price since mid-February, with the upper descending trendline connecting the February highs and the lower ascending trendline running from the cycle lows. The MA ribbon sits entirely above price: SMA 20 at $82.74, SMA 50 at $85.61, SMA 100 at $98.42, and SMA 200 at $129.44, all acting as sequential overhead resistance. The MACD crossover inside the triangle narrows the window before a directional resolution is forced by the apex.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has approved a proposal from Financial Industry Regulatory Authority to eliminate the long-standing $25,000 minimum equity requirement tied to "pattern day trader" accounts.

The rule, which has governed U.S. equity trading for years, required traders executing frequent intraday trades to maintain a minimum balance effectively limiting active trading to higher-capital participants.

That requirement will now be replaced by a real-time, intraday margin system that assesses risk continuously rather than using fixed thresholds.

In May 2025 an NFT artist named Masato Alexander posted a thread accusing Charles Hoskinson of rewriting the Cardano ledger during the Allegra hard fork in 2020

The claim was that Hoskinson used his genesis keys to delete original wallet balances from the 2017 ICO and move 318 million ADA worth $619 million into reserves he controlled

Alexander called it one of the largest ledger rewrites in blockchain history and compared it to the Ethereum DAO hack

The thread went viral and the Cardano community split in half overnight, with some calling for Hoskinson to step down and others defending him

Hoskinson responded the same day and said the ADA vouchers from the ICO had become unspendable after the hard fork, so they were moved into a custodial account that kept distributing them to the original buyers for 3 more years

He said 99.8% of all vouchers were redeemed by the people who bought them and the remaining 0.2% went to Intersect, a Cardano governance organization

He then sent Alexander a cease and desist letter and told him publicly "if you continue to imply that I stole funds, I will sue you"

The Cardano Foundation launched an external audit that cleared Hoskinson and IOHK of any misuse of funds and found no evidence of key misuse or financial misconduct

The genesis keys themselves were later burned before the Chang upgrade, meaning that level of access no longer exists on Cardano for anyone
