Bitcoin is currently mirroring a similar bull trap situation from 2022, and it could tank the digital asset to $45k in under two weeks, one analyst argues. The largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization is currently trading at $71k after a surprise price increase yesterday that brought it above the $70k resistance. However, Lofty, the analyst in question, believes that this is a classic bull trap setup that has occurred many times before.

The analysis shows that the cryptocurrency experienced a major bull trap back in 2022 when it rose sharply to $30K, but the move was immediately followed by a drop to $18K. The recent 2026 move may experience a bull trap at $73K, and based on the analyst's prediction, a price crash to $45k is imminent.

Bitcoin's recent price maneuver to $73k has baffled analysts as to why the digital currency is performing so well in the face of damning odds like the ongoing war-like situation in the Middle East. The stock markets are down while Gold is at historic highs and climbing.

Vancouver city staff concluded that bitcoin is not an allowable asset for municipal investment under local law.

Mayor Ken Sim presented the motion to make the city “bitcoin-friendly” in 2024.

Vancouver city staff has advised the council to rescind a motion to make the city "bitcoin-friendly" following a legal review.

In a report submitted recently to the Vancouver City Council, the staff moved to scuttle the motion titled "Preserving of the City’s Purchasing Power Through Diversification of Financial Reserves – Becoming A Bitcoin Friendly City," which was presented in November 2024.

"Staff has conclusively determined that under the Vancouver Charter, Bitcoin is not an allowable investment asset for the City, and therefore recommends that this work be concluded," the report said. The Vancouver Charter is the provincial law that governs various city operations.

The report also cited the need to reprioritize staff resources and coordinate with other city initiatives as additional rationales for the recommendation.

Cardano Users Can Now Pay for Groceries at Swiss Spar Stores

The addition of Cardano brings Cardano into a retail payments infrastructure that was already active in stores.

Cardano's $ADA token is now accepted as a payment method at 137 Spar supermarkets across Switzerland and neighboring Liechtenstein. The rollout is enabled through an integration between the Cardano network and Swiss fintech firm DFX.swiss, which developed the Open Crypto Pay standard used to process the transactions.

Open Crypto Pay already supports payments in several cryptocurrencies at Swiss Spar locations. Those include Bitcoin, Ethereum, and the USDC, USDT, and DAI stablecoins. The addition of Cardano brings Cardano into a retail payments infrastructure that was already active in stores.

Customers pay by scanning a QR code at checkout using a compatible Cardano wallet. Transactions are processed in real time without routing through a centralized exchange. Merchants receive payment in Swiss francs regardless of which cryptocurrency the customer used. DFX(dot)swiss said Open Crypto Pay reduces transaction costs for merchants by roughly two-thirds compared to traditional card payments.

Bitcoin climbs toward $73K amid rising Coinbase Premium and liquidations, yet weak participation hints the rebound may lack structural strength





Bitcoin’s [BTC] rebound toward $73,000 reflects a cooling of aggressive sell pressure rather than a revival of broad market demand.

Even so, the Bull Score Index remained near 10, at press time. This shows that overall network participation remains weak.

Earlier in the cycle, Bitcoin advanced from roughly $60,000 to above $120,000 while the Bull Score repeatedly climbed above 60. During that period, capital inflows, derivatives expansion, and spot demand aligned to sustain the rally.

However, conditions deteriorated after the mid-2025 peak as macro risk and profit-taking triggered a gradual withdrawal of liquidity, leading to a significant decline in market confidence and further worsening the demand contraction.

These events led to a sharp drop in Bitcoin’s price and heightened market volatility.



As weaker holders exited, demand contraction narrowed sharply from about -136,000 BTC to nearly -25,000 BTC. At the same time, long-term holder selling fell roughly 70% since November 2025, indicating that major distribution pressure has slowed. This reduction in supply allowed the price to stabilize.

Yet broader participation has not returned. Institutional positioning and derivatives activity remain subdued, keeping the Bull Score low. This reflects weak investor confidence and suggests market conditions are still unfavorable for a sustained upward trend.

Therefore, the current rebound likely reflects seller exhaustion and short-term positioning, rather than the start of a structurally supported bull phase.
