Solana is undergoing a four-phase update to double block production speed! Here are the details

The Solana network is preparing to roll out a comprehensive upgrade plan aimed at increasing block production speed. According to information reported by BeInCrypto, the network aims to reduce its current 400-millisecond block production interval to 200 milliseconds. Following the completion of the four-phase upgrade, Solana is planned to produce a new block approximately every 0.2 seconds.

This change is considered a significant step towards increasing Solana’s transaction capacity and overall network performance. Shortening block production time can lead to faster transaction processing and an improved user experience on the network. Faster block production, especially during periods of high transaction volume, can help the network meet demand.

The first phase of the upgrade is planned to be activated with epoch number 1020. In the Solana network, epochs represent periods covering a specific number of slots, playing a crucial role in protocol updates and changes to network parameters.

All four planned changes have already been integrated into the Agave validator software developed by Anza, the client for the Solana network. Instead of being rolled out all at once, the updates will be implemented gradually. This will allow developers to monitor the impact of each phase on the network before moving on to the next change.

Following the successful implementation of all stages, Solana’s block production time will be reduced from 400 milliseconds to 200 milliseconds. This means the network’s current speed will be approximately doubled.

The update, implemented in line with Solana’s scalability and high processing capacity goals, aims to improve the network’s performance while enhancing its decentralization and security features.

XRP ETF Takes A 6% Share As Bitwise Products Record $300M Volume
Bitwise crypto investment products recorded about $300 million in combined trading volume on Aug. 19, with the Bitwise XRP ETF making up roughly 6% of the total. 

This comes as the broader crypto market remains under pressure, with the market losing about $580 billion in value this year. Despite the consistent decline, crypto investment products have continued to draw renewed investor attention.

Hunter Horsley, CEO of Bitwise, revealed the figures in a recent disclosure on X and highlighted the top five contributors to the company’s total ETF volume. 

Specifically, the Bitwise Bitcoin ETF (BITB) led the group with $156 million in trading volume, followed by the Bitwise Solana ETF (BSOL) with $58 million.

Meanwhile, the company’s Hyperliquid ETF (BHYP) ranked third with $45 million, while the Ethereum ETF (ETHW) followed with $35 million. 

The Bitwise XRP ETF (XRP) ranked fifth, recording about $20 million in trading volume on Aug. 19. Based on Bitwise’s figures, the XRP product accounted for 6.6% of the total trading volume across all Bitwise ETFs.

South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Upbit will add Bitcoin and Tether trading pairs for Biconomy, Bubblemaps, Nillion and ETHGas on Aug. 21.

The exchange originally scheduled the eight markets to open at 13:00 Korea Standard Time. Upbit updated its official notice at 12:50 KST and postponed trading until 16:00 KST, a three hour delay.

Upbit did not give a detailed reason for the change. It apologized for the inconvenience and retained the previously announced deposit networks and initial order restrictions.

The exchange warned that trading could face another delay if deposits and withdrawals fail to establish sufficient liquidity before the revised opening time.

Upbit listing covers eight new trading pairs

Each of the four tokens will receive one $BTC pair and one $USDT pair. Upbit did not announce Korean won markets for the assets.

BICO, NIL and $GWEI deposits must use Ethereum. BMT deposits must use Solana. Upbit will not process transfers made through unsupported networks, even when another version of the same token exists elsewhere.

The exchange provided contract addresses for each supported asset. Users should verify those addresses and the selected blockchain before transferring funds. Deposits sent through the wrong network may require a lengthy recovery process or may not be recoverable.

Upbit can also request evidence explaining the source of large deposits. Transfers from exchanges that do not meet its Travel Rule requirements may not appear in customer accounts until additional checks are completed.
