XRP jumps 11%: can bulls turn $1.10 into the start of a bigger breakout?

Ripple’s $XRP extended its gains on Thursday as improving liquidity conditions supported a broad rally across the cryptocurrency market.

$XRP is trading above $1.1 after surging more than 11% on Wednesday, outperforming Bitcoin over the last 24 hours.

The rally gained momentum after the US Treasury announced an expansion of its debt buyback operations, improving risk appetite and contributing to a large-scale short squeeze across the crypto market.

Treasury buybacks trigger crypto short squeeze

The US Department of the Treasury announced on Wednesday that it would double the size of some buyback operations designed to support liquidity in longer-dated Treasury securities.

According to Reuters, liquidity-support buybacks for longer-dated nominal coupon securities will increase from $2 billion to at least $4 billion per operation.

The announcement eased concerns about liquidity in the Treasury market and encouraged investors to increase their exposure to riskier assets.

Improved market sentiment contributed to a short squeeze across the cryptocurrency market, accelerating gains in $XRP and other digital assets.

CoinGlass data shows that 172,642 traders were liquidated over the past 24 hours, with total crypto liquidations exceeding $3.21 billion.

$XRP recorded $120.71 million in liquidations. Long positions accounted for more than 85% of $XRP liquidations, indicating that leveraged bullish positioning remained elevated despite the broader upward move.

$XRP technical outlook: Recovery holds above 50-day EMA

$XRP trades around $1.14 on Thursday, maintaining its position above the 50-day Exponential Moving Average at $1.076.

However, the token remains below the 100-day EMA at $1.153 and the 200-day EMA at $1.338. These levels represent significant barriers that could limit the recovery.

As bitcoin prices climbed over the last 24 hours, btcparser.com data shows 28 long-dormant wallets suddenly stirred between Aug. 19 and 20 after years of silence. The wallets shifted a total of 1,314.41 $BTC worth $94.03 million to fresh addresses, with a staggering 92.4% of the bitcoin coming from addresses first created in 2014. Even more striking, 21 of the 28 spends moved in neat 50 $BTC chunks from 2014 wallets created in November or December of that year.

The owner moved the coins out of legacy P2PKH (Pay-to-Public-Key-Hash) wallets and consolidated them into newer P2WPKH (Pay-to-Witness-Public-Key-Hash) addresses. Several transfers landed in the same blocks, including block height 963203, suggesting the movements were coordinated rather than random. The destination addresses carry no flags from explorers such as Arkham Intelligence and, at least for now, show no obvious signs of heading toward an exchange.

Privacy Setbacks in Coordinated 50 $BTC Shuffle

Blockchair.com’s privacy tool rated several of the 21 consolidated 50 $BTC transfers “low,” scoring them just 22 out of 100 across roughly four privacy issues, including repeated appearances of the same address among the inputs. But this likely single 2014 whale was hardly alone, as other wallets from the 2014 cohort also suddenly woke up after more than a decade in the shadows.

Crypto influencer Zion “Ansem” Thomas launched a website on Monday that facilitates crypto transactions. By Wednesday, a developer was warning of unpatched vulnerabilities and accusing Ansem of giving “zero consideration” to his developers.

Ansem quickly responded to the allegations, calling them “not true” and “baseless.”

The accusations were made by a pseudonymous developer known as “bleep,” who claimed to have ran developer relations within Ansem’s Discord server.

Bleep is building a separate, Ansem-adjacent project called Bullpad that uses Ansem’s memecoin as a quote token.

He told Ansem that he’d “spent significant time and money building a platform that you explicitly told me you were interested in.”

Ansem denied any agreement with bleep and characterized their communications as infrequent and informal.

A day earlier, bleep claimed, “Ansem doesn’t have a team. He has a vibe-coder. Ansem created a pump fun wrapper. That’s something anyone can do in a night.”

Ansem responded on Wednesday, saying that bleep “built something on your own and have been putting out baseless accusations ever since because I didn’t give you the recognition you wanted.”

He also disclaimed any endorsement of third-party platforms, including Bullpen, Bulltoshi, and Kimji.

The feud escaped containment on Wednesday when another influencer posted, “REMOVE ALL FUNDS FROM ANSEMS LAUNCHPAD AND DISCONNECT YOUR WALLET,” inaccurately claiming whoever “vibecoded ansem’s launchpad in a week” never got paid.

A stronger RSI move above 50, accompanied by further MACD expansion and rising Open Interest, would improve PI’s near-term outlook.



The 78.6% Fibonacci retracement at $0.0839 remains PI’s primary support level.

Buyers must defend this area to preserve the current recovery structure. A decisive break below $0.0839 could invalidate the latest rebound and expose the swing low at $0.0703.
