Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) raised $335.5 million by selling common stock last week, then placed almost 90% of the proceeds into cash rather than Bitcoin as the company moved to shore up the preferred securities financing its cryptocurrency purchases.

The company sold about 2.71 million MSTR shares between June 15 and June 21 and added $300 million to its US dollar reserve, lifting the fund to $1.4 billion. It spent the remaining $34.9 million on 520 Bitcoin.

The allocation followed a sharp selloff in Strategy’s STRC perpetual preferred shares, which fell to a record intraday low of $82.50. STRC had been designed to trade near its $100 stated value and has become one of the company’s most important sources of capital for buying Bitcoin.

Technical Breakdown: Lower Bollinger Band Under Pressure

The lower Bollinger Band, often viewed as a dynamic support level in trending markets, is currently being tested near 1.1440. A confirmed close below this band would signal an acceleration of bearish momentum, potentially opening the door toward the next support zone around 1.1380, a level that acted as resistance in early February. The middle Bollinger Band, representing the 20-day simple moving average, has flattened and is sloping slightly lower near 1.1580, reinforcing the bearish bias.

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) on the daily chart has dipped below 40, entering bearish territory but not yet oversold. This suggests room for further downside before exhaustion becomes a factor. Meanwhile, the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) indicator remains below its signal line with expanding red histogram bars, confirming that downside momentum is building.

Bitcoin derivatives reset as leverage cools amid subdued spot demand​

Bitcoin's recent correction wiped out nearly 20% of futures open interest, signaling a broad leverage reset.

Glassnode stated that subdued spot activity and growing options hedging point to cautious sentiment despite stable futures positioning.

Strategy bought 520 BTC, with JAN3 CEO Samson Mow defending the company's new STRC preferred stock design.

Bitcoin's recent correction has reduced leverage across derivatives markets, creating a healthier structure amid weak spot trading activity, according to a report from CryptoQuant on Monday.

The report stated that Bitcoin's decline over the past few weeks appears to reflect a broad futures market reset rather than the buildup of new speculative positions.
"BTC price is down, but open interest is down even more. This suggests the futures market has gone through a meaningful leverage reset,” CryptoQuant analyst Woominkyu wrote.
Total Bitcoin open interest across exchanges fell from $25.96 billion on June 1 to $20.89 billion by June 21, a 19.5% decline, while Bitcoin's price dropped about 11.4% over the same period.

"This is important because price falling together with OI usually means existing futures positions are being closed, liquidated, or reduced," the report added.

The firm added that although the reset does not guarantee an immediate recovery, it leaves the market in a healthier position than one dominated by excessive leverage.

Glassnode highlighted a similar trend in its Weekly Market Pulse. The analytics firm noted that Bitcoin's futures open interest currently stands at $31.2 billion, comfortably within its historical statistical range. This suggests that traders are neither aggressively increasing leverage nor rapidly unwinding positions.

SpaceX’s $600 billion plunge erased nearly half of bitcoin’s market cap in three days.SpaceX's stock has lost more than $600 billion in market value over three trading days, which is nearly half of bitcoin's $1.3 trillion market cap, after announcing its first bond sale.

Bitcoin fell less than 1% over the same stretch, holding near $63,600, per CoinDesk data.

The stock dropped 16% on Monday to $154.60, its lowest since its June 12 debut, taking its three-day decline to about 23%. The trigger was supposedly a plan to sell at least $20 billion of bonds, the company's first time borrowing in the debt markets, to fund the artificial-intelligence buildout it took on when it bought Elon Musk's xAI in February.

SpaceX chose to borrow rather than issue new shares, which would have diluted existing holders. A week ago it, was worth nearly $2.5 trillion and had briefly passed Amazon and Microsoft but now sits just above $2 trillion.

The selling ran into Tuesday, with a perpetual futures contract that tracks SpaceX on Hyperliquid down another 15% to around $151.


Part of the move is structure. SpaceX trades on a thin float, meaning only a small share of its stock is available to trade, so each move is amplified and the 16% single-session drop on a single headline reflects that thinness.

Bitcoin's market is far deeper and more liquid, which is part of why it took the same week in stride.

The two are still driven by a same engine. Monday's drop was not only SpaceX: The Nasdaq fell 1.3% as investors questioned whether the enormous sums big technology firms are spending on AI will pay off, with Alphabet and Amazon both sliding.

That AI-driven risk appetite is what aided crypto's recovery this month, so deeper cracks in it could erode the bid bitcoin has leaned on. So far the selling has stayed inside the stock.
