Crypto market opens new weekly candle with signs of stability
Bitcoin, Ethereum, and $XRP are showing resilience at the start of the week after experiencing notable declines during the previous trading period.

Bitcoin fell nearly 4% last week, while Ethereum and $XRP dropped approximately 2% and 6%, respectively.

Despite the weakness, all three assets have stabilized, with Bitcoin trading above $64,000, Ethereum holding the critical $1,700 support level, and $XRP consolidating near $1.13.

For Bitcoin, traders are closely watching technical indicators for clues about whether the recent recovery can develop into a broader rebound.

Bitcoin remains below major resistance levels
Bitcoin is currently trading around $64,000, but the broader technical outlook remains cautious. $BTC continues to trade below its key moving averages, 50-day EMA: approximately $69,106, 100-day EMA: approximately $72,123, and 200-day EMA: approximately $77,748.

The fact that Bitcoin remains below all three indicators suggests that sellers still maintain control of the broader trend.

Adding to the bearish outlook, $BTC recently broke below a rising trendline that had previously supported the market. That trendline, now acting as resistance near $74,238, reinforces the view that Bitcoin remains in a corrective phase.

Although the overall trend remains weak, some technical indicators suggest that downside momentum may be slowing.

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) has rebounded from deeply oversold levels and is currently hovering in the high-40 range.

Secret Network's Axelar Bridge Drained $4.67M via Infinite-Mint FlawSecret Network's cross-chain bridge to Axelar has been suspended after an attacker exploited a years-old minting flaw to drain $4.67 million in wrapped tokens over seven undetected days.

Both teams disclosed the incident on June 19, confirming approximately $4.67 million in assets were taken from the bridge's Axelar-to-Secret IBC connection. The attack itself began on June 10 but went unnoticed for seven days until a routine cross-chain transfer failed because the bridge's escrow account had been depleted.

Minting Flaw
The vulnerability lived in a modified CW20-ICS20 smart contract deployed on Secret Network for the Axelar bridge connection. Security research firm Common Prefix published a technical breakdown of the incident, finding that two critical validation checks had been commented out from the contract's packet-receive function: one that should have verified incoming token denominations against the legitimate source channel, and one that should have capped outflows to amounts genuinely held in escrow.

The flaw dates to the contract's initial deployment in March 2023 and survived a migration on March 5, 2026 that updated the bytecode for new features but preserved the missing checks. Secret Network's default transaction encryption obscured the growing shortfall from on-chain observers; the attack ran for seven days before a failed transfer surfaced it.

To exploit the gap, the attacker spun up a single-validator Cosmos SDK chain and opened a new IBC channel to Secret Network. IBC channel creation is permissionless by design, meaning any chain can initiate a connection. The attacker self-relayed forged IBC packets carrying bare denominations that matched the bridge's allow-list. With both validation checks missing, the contract minted unbacked wrapped tokens

The stablecoin now trades at roughly $0.25 against its $1.00 target, per CoinGecko and DefiLlama.

Synthetix founder Kain Warwick and core contributor Benjamin Celermajer authored the proposal. Under SIP-423, the sUSD contract would be frozen and deprecated. Each eligible sUSD holder would receive four $SNX tokens per sUSD, at a conversion that values $SNX at $0.25 and sUSD at its intended $1.00 face value. The $SNX tokens carry a one-year lock followed by a one-year linear vest from the freeze date. The claim window opens approximately one year after the freeze.

Four Components
SIP-423 has four parts. First, a holder snapshot: an audit of all sUSD balances on Ethereum and Optimism at a governance-defined cutoff block. Second, the sUSD retirement itself. Third, a restructure of the existing Debt Jubilee under SIP-420, which would close the 420 Pool, remove sUSD staking ratio requirements, and give existing debt participants the choice of a four-year lock with a one-year vest, or an early exit by repaying their remaining debt in full. The fourth component, $SNX staking reform, is deferred to a separate build.

A contingent $USDT path is included: if Synthetix generates more than $10 million in protocol revenue within the two-year lock-up period, 25% of that revenue can be distributed as $USDT to legacy sUSD holders who prefer cash over $SNX. Both the $10 million threshold and the 25% share are adjustable by the Spartan Council via SCCP.

Shiba Inu has formed a bearish structure that could drive prices lower, but bulls could invalidate this by reclaiming a key level.

Shiba Inu (SHIB) remains almost unchanged in the past 24 hours, correcting less than 1% during this period. Still, the broader structure continues to lean bearish.

The third-largest meme coin by market cap dropped 2% on Sunday, closing the past week 7.7% lower than its opening price. This now means that SHIB has dropped over 15% in June and is on course for its largest monthly decline since December 2025.

Meanwhile, a fresh chart analysis suggests the possibility of further price declines.

An analysis of the SHIB/USD 4-hour chart shows that Shiba Inu faced rejection at a descending resistance trendline, creating a bear trap. That rejection occurred after its price revisited a key supply zone at $0.00000520 last Monday, reinforcing the idea that sellers remain firmly in control.

Meanwhile, more than just one technical indicator supports this bearish case. Momentum indicators have also begun flashing warning signs, with a clear bearish divergence emerging on the relative strength index (RSI). While its price made higher highs, the RSI made lower highs and lower lows.

An order block breakdown adds more bearish perspective. The chart shows that the area around $0.00000520 aligns with an order block, a zone where smart money market users placed large sell orders in this case. 

A rebound to the resistance also confirmed a fair value gap (FVG) formed in early June. Shiba Inu retested this gap, and bears defended the area, further adding downward pressure.
As long as the token remains below the current resistance area and continues trading within the order block and fair value gap zone, the path of least resistance appears lower.

That reading marks a weak positive link rather than the near-lockstep movement of prior weeks; the two assets have largely stopped trading in tandem, though they are not yet moving inversely.The breakdown matters because BCH has fallen hard, dropping from above $600 late last year to around $200. If the de-correlation holds while Bitcoin trades sideways or rallies, BCH could extend its slide on its own, or the relationship could snap back.

For now, the prospect of a short-term BCH decline remains in place, leaving the asset exposed to further downside.Final Summary

Franklin Templeton has completed its acquisition of 250 Digital, the crypto investment firm spun out of CoinFund in January 2026, and used the closing to launch a new institutional business line called Franklin Crypto. 

The deal, first announced in April, marks one of the most concrete moves by a major legacy asset manager to build a dedicated crypto operation from within.

250 Digital came into existence at the start of 2026 as a standalone entity carved out of CoinFund Management, bringing with it a team built around liquid crypto strategies and institutional-grade portfolio construction. 

Christopher Perkins, who leads the firm, will now head Franklin Crypto. Seth Ginns, 250 Digital’s chief investment officer, will carry that title into the new division. Both spent years at CoinFund before the spinout and bring deep roots in the institutional digital asset world.

The new Franklin Crypto unit is aimed at pensions, sovereign wealth funds, and large asset allocators that want exposure to digital assets through regulated structures. Its strategy spans liquid token markets, venture exposure, and structured products tied to blockchain infrastructure.

One of the more striking details of the transaction is how it was paid. Franklin Templeton used BENJI tokens — the on-chain representation of its Franklin OnChain U.S. Government Money Fund — as part of the acquisition consideration. 

That makes this deal among the first major M&A transactions in financial services to be settled using tokenized fund shares rather than cash or conventional securities.

BENJI tokens give holders exposure to a regulated U.S. money market fund recorded on a public blockchain.
