Chainlink launched APAC Equities Streams on Monday, putting live pricing for large-cap Asian companies on-chain to power equity perps, prediction markets and structured products in Asian time zones.

Chainlink launched APAC Equities Streams on Monday, an oracle feed that brings pricing for large Asia-Pacific companies on-chain. It starts with Japan and Korea, with more regional markets slated to follow.

The streams went live Monday afternoon, Chainlink said on its official X account. They cover the region's largest listed names, including Samsung, SK Hynix, Toyota, Sony and SoftBank. Developers can use the feeds to build on-chain markets around those equities, the company said, with fast pricing data positioned as the foundation for moving global stock markets on-chain.

Leverage Reset Shifts Focus to Spot Demand

Bitcoin’s futures market has undergone a sharp leverage reset. Traders are now watching whether the next move will be driven by spot demand rather than derivatives speculation. Data shared by Cryptoquant on June 22 showed total $BTC Open Interest across exchanges falling from $26.0 billion to $20.89 billion during June.

The drop in futures exposure outpaced the decline in price. Bitcoin fell from roughly $71,200 at the start of the month to $63,234 by June 21, down 11.4%, while Open Interest contracted 19.5%, indicating futures exposure was reduced more aggressively than the decline in $BTC price.

Referring to the decline in futures positioning and the reduction in leveraged exposure across the market, the analyst stated:

“So far, the data shows that excess leverage has been reduced.”

Traders often track the relationship between price and Open Interest to assess market structure. During the first week of June, $BTC fell to a local low of $60,900 on June 6 while Open Interest dropped from $26.0 billion to about $22.4 billion, a pattern consistent with liquidations and position reductions rather than a buildup of new leveraged positions.

The chart labeled this period a “ Leverage Reset,” with both price and Open Interest declining together. That differs from a price drop accompanied by rising Open Interest, which can signal growing speculative positioning.

Traders Watch for a Spot-Led Recovery

Bitcoin later rebounded to roughly $66,300 on June 15, while Open Interest recovered to $23.5 billion. However, futures exposure remained well below the June 1 peak.

While $BTC gained nearly 9% from its June 6 low, Open Interest stayed about $2.5 billion below its monthly high, indicating the recovery was accompanied by a more modest increase in leverage than seen at the start of the month.

Crypto exchange Coinbase (Nasdaq: COIN) has introduced pre-IPO perpetual futures (perps) tied to OpenAI and Anthropic, offering eligible non-U.S. customers a way to trade exposure to two of the most closely watched private artificial intelligence (AI) companies. The launch expands Coinbase International Exchange’s lineup of perpetual products into private-market valuation trading.

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong highlighted the challenges retail investors face when trying to access private companies before public listings. OpenAI and Anthropic remain privately held, limiting traditional investment opportunities for most market participants.

“Two of the biggest, most hyped private companies are due to go public soon (OpenAI and Anthropic). But because they’re private, regular people can’t get exposure. We launched pre-IPO perps for both these companies on Coinbase (non-US customers).”

Platform access is restricted to eligible users outside the United States through Coinbase International Exchange. The contracts allow traders to take long or short positions while using the exchange’s existing perpetual futures infrastructure, including margin requirements, funding mechanisms, and risk controls.
