Ripple has officially made a strategic investment in Flutterwave as part of its Series E round.
This is not a full acquisition of the company.
This is an equity investment and a deeper partnership around payment infrastructure.
Flutterwave is one of Africa’s largest fintech companies, valued at around $3.2–3.3 billion.
THE MAIN POINT 🧩
Ripple is entering Africa not just as an investor.
Ripple is bringing its full financial stack:
▪️ RLUSD — Ripple’s dollar-backed stablecoin
▪️ Ripple Payments — cross-border payment infrastructure
▪️ XRP Ledger / XRPL — blockchain rails for settlement
▪️ Flutterwave — one of the biggest fintech platforms in Africa
Flutterwave already operates across dozens of African markets and has processed over 1 billion transactions worth more than $50 billion.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR XRP AND RLUSD 🔥
It does not mean Flutterwave will start buying XRP massively tomorrow.
The logic is different.
Ripple is bringing its infrastructure into real payment flows:
▪️ RLUSD as a dollar settlement asset
▪️ XRPL as a technology layer
▪️ Ripple Payments as a bridge between banks, businesses and stablecoins
▪️ Africa as a huge market for cross-border payments
