In the last 24 hours, about 1.7 billion Cardano ($ADA) have changed hands in the crypto market. The increasing macro risk in the broader financial space has shifted market sentiment as $ADA bulls reacted to these developments.

Rising selling pressure weighs on Cardano price

Cardano has dropped from a daily peak of $0.2682 to a low of $0.2559 in the last 24 hours. As of this writing, Cardano is changing hands at $0.2590, which represents a 3.14% decline within the time frame. This has negatively impacted the market outlook as bulls exercise caution.

The crypto-wide slip and escalating global tensions from the Middle East conflict have caused the risk appetite of bulls to drop. Cardano, just like other altcoins, is experiencing capital rotation away from it.

On-chain data reveals that there is increased selling pressure in the Cardano market. Notably, approximately 230 million $ADA have been offloaded within the last seven days. The value of this volume has been estimated at over $63 million, a development that added to the selling pressure.

The current development might witness a reversal once $ADA is oversold. Currently, the Relative Strength Index of Cardano is at 35 on the two-week chart. This shows that momentum is weakening, but the asset has not slipped into the oversold territory.

Market participants are watching the price movement keenly. If $ADA is able to sustain a close above the $0.25 level amid high volume, a bullish rebound is possible.

However, a slip below this support could trigger bearish momentum and further slips toward $0.23. Cardano’s price is at a critical juncture, and its next step might be determined by Bitcoin’s ability to stabilize above $68,000.

South African Economist Flags Authoritarian Risks in CBDCs


Economist Dawie Roodt has issued a warning that central bank digital currencies could become tools for authoritarian control due to their “programmable” nature.

The Authoritarian Risk

South African economist Dawie Roodt warned that central bank digital currencies, or CBDCs, could become instruments of authoritarian control if governments exploit their programmable features.

Speaking at a recent conference, Roodt explained that CBDCs allow authorities to directly influence how citizens use their money. He cautioned that governments could theoretically restrict purchases, seize funds, or manipulate spending behavior.

“They could reduce or increase the value of the wallet that is on your cellphone,” Roodt said, adding that CBDCs would make every transaction visible to the issuing authority.

Although he acknowledged that safeguards would likely be built into real-world CBDCs, Roodt stressed that the potential for abuse remains significant.

The economist contrasted CBDCs with private-sector stablecoins, which he described as the “natural antidote” to state-controlled digital money. Stablecoins are pegged to fiat currencies or assets, designed to maintain a stable value and avoid the volatility of cryptocurrencies like bitcoin.

Roodt predicted their adoption would accelerate, citing the GENIUS Act signed into U.S. law in July 2025, which requires issuers to hold 100% reserves in high-quality liquid assets. In South Africa, rand-pegged projects such as ZARP and ZARU are already operational, though ZARU is limited to institutional use.

He suggested that communities could issue their own stablecoins backed by assets such as gold, tailored to local needs and offering low transaction costs.

Retail investors flocking to trade fractional tech stocks have pushed the Solana blockchain past Ethereum in the total number of wallets holding tokenized real-world assets.

However, financial data reveals that Ethereum maintains a massive, undisputed lead in institutional capital and overall value.

According to data provider Rwa.xyz, the number of wallets holding tokenized assets on Solana has reached 154,942.

This narrowly edged past Ethereum’s 153,592 holders, marking the first time Solana has led the industry in this specific user-adoption metric.

The surge in Solana’s user base follows the mid-2025 launch of tokenized xStock equities on the network.

Retail traders, drawn by Solana’s cheap transaction fees, have increasingly utilized the blockchain to buy and hold tokenized shares of highly volatile, popular companies like Tesla and Nvidia. As of January, Solana had recorded 126,000 holders before accelerating to its current high.

While the milestone reflects Solana’s success in attracting retail participants, the wallet count tells only a fraction of the broader financial story.

When measuring total assets under management, Ethereum’s dominance remains largely unchallenged.

Ethereum currently hosts $15.5 billion in tokenized real-world assets, nearly nine times the $1.8 billion held on the Solana network. Furthermore, Ethereum supports 663 distinct tokenization projects, compared with Solana’s 345.
