Paris-based Sequans Communications sold 1,025 bitcoin during the first quarter of 2026, cutting its digital asset reserves nearly in half as the IoT semiconductor maker grappled with declining revenue and mounting losses tied to a treasury strategy that has turned from ambitious to burdensome.

The sale reduced Sequans’ bitcoin position from 2,139 $BTC at year-end 2025 to 1,114 $BTC by April 30, marking the second major disposal in six months for a company that less than a year ago proclaimed plans to accumulate 3,000 bitcoin as a “long-term store of value”.

The financial pressure is evident in the numbers. Sequans reported revenue of $6.1 million for the quarter ended March 31, down 24.8% from $8.1 million a year earlier. The year-over-year comparison reveals the company’s vulnerability: the prior-year period included significant license and services revenue from Qualcomm that did not recur, exposing the underlying weakness in product sales.

Crypto markets predict Nvidia stock price for May 31, 2026

Prediction market traders are leaning bearish on Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) stock heading into the end of May 2026, with Polymarket contracts implying the semiconductor giant is unlikely to reclaim the higher price levels seen earlier in April.

Indeed, the outlook comes as Nvidia stock continues to show short-term weakness. By press time, the equity was trading at $197, down 0.6% for the day. Year-to-date, NVDA stock is up almost 5%.

Notably, NVDA shares briefly traded above $212 in April before sliding toward the high-$190 range, where price action appears to be stabilizing.

The prediction market shows traders assigning the highest probability to Nvidia closing above $192 by May 31, with odds standing at 71%.

The next most likely outcome places the stock above $216, carrying a 45% probability despite Nvidia’s recent pullback.

Meanwhile, traders have a 44% chance that shares could fall below $184 by the end of the month, highlighting elevated uncertainty around the stock’s short-term direction.

At the same time, contracts predicting Nvidia above $224 trade at a 29% probability, while chances of the stock surpassing $232 and $240 stood at 18% and 9%, respectively. Markets view a rally beyond $248 or $256 as increasingly unlikely, with probabilities dropping to 6% and 3%.

An aggressive upside move above $264 was priced at just 2%, signaling that traders currently expect limited near-term momentum after Nvidia’s sharp gains earlier in the artificial intelligence-driven rally.

Bitcoin gained roughly 12% in April, its best month in a year. So far, May has extended these gains, pushing the leading crypto beyond $80,000. And yet, almost nobody trusts the rally.

The move did not come from a rush of new buyers. It came from mechanics: Strategy added more than $3.8 billion in BTC during April, institutions ran basis trades through BlackRock’s IBIT, and short liquidations outpaced longs by nearly a billion dollars since mid-April, per CoinGlass.

Perpetual funding rates for bitcoin, an indicator of sentiment, have been negative for over 46 consecutive days, the longest bearish positioning streak in years. The market rallied into a wall of shorts and kept climbing.

But here is what is missing: spot demand. 

CryptoQuant founder Ki Young Ju has warned that apparent onchain demand remains net negative even as ETFs absorb supply. Nine consecutive days of Bitcoin ETF inflows through April 24 totaled $2.1 billion, the longest streak since September 2025.

However, much of the ETF flow reflects cash-and-carry trades, not conviction. Also, onchain analytics suggest the ETF bid served as exit liquidity for short-term holders rather than genuine accumulation amid an unresolved war with Iran in the background.

All this means that spot demand hasn’t arrived yet, despite the 12% rise. And the market is sitting on a pile of short fuel with a few potential positive catalysts that could arrive in the same window.
