Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire said there’s a “tremendous opportunity” for a yuan-pegged stablecoin, and China could launch one within the next three to five years.

Chinese authorities have explicitly banned the offshore issuance of yuan stablecoins without regulatory approval.


Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire said he sees a "tremendous opportunity" for a Chinese yuan stablecoin, particularly if Chinese authorities aim to make the yuan more competitive.

In a Thursday interview with Reuters, Allaire said that stablecoins have emerged as a new way for currencies to gain global traction, potentially supporting China's long-term goal of internationalizing the yuan.

"There's a tremendous opportunity for a yuan stablecoin," Allaire told Reuters. "If there's currency competition, you want your currency to have the best features possible. This is becoming a technological competition."

Allaire added that China could launch a yuan-backed stablecoin within the next three to five years. The Block has reached out to Circle for further comment. 

Allaire's remarks come amid growing chatter about a potential yuan stablecoin. In July 2025, Chinese tech giants Ant Group and JD reportedly urged China's central bank to authorize yuan-backed stablecoins in addition to those pegged to the Hong Kong dollar.

However, Chinese authorities have taken a cautious stance. In February 2026, the People's Bank of China and a group of key regulators issued a notice explicitly prohibiting the offshore issuance of yuan-pegged stablecoins without prior regulatory approval.

DoubleZero Foundation, a project building high-speed data infrastructure for blockchains like Solana, has rolled out a new platform to speed up how trading firms access crypto market data — a sign of growing demand for Wall Street-style systems in digital asset markets.

The project, called DoubleZero Edge, went live on Thursday. Its first offering is a real-time feed of raw data from the Solana blockchain, giving traders faster access to information that can influence prices.

Solana, a high-speed blockchain popular with traders, produces large amounts of real-time data as transactions are processed. DoubleZero plugs into that system by working with validators to distribute it more quickly to market players.

Unlike traditional finance, where exchanges rely on specialized networks to deliver data at high speed, crypto markets still largely depend on the public internet: a setup that can introduce delays and inconsistencies. DoubleZero is trying to change that by building a dedicated system designed specifically for onchain data.

According to the company, the new network can shave tens of milliseconds off data delivery times, with bigger gains during periods of heavy network activity. For high-frequency trading firms, even small speed improvements can translate into a competitive edge.

The platform works by sending data over a private fiber network using multicast, a method commonly used in traditional financial markets to simultaneously distribute data to multiple participants.

Beyond speed, DoubleZero is also pitching a new economic model. Validators on the Solana network can earn additional revenue by supplying data to the platform, while traders pay to subscribe to the feeds using USDC.

Ripple Signs First Tier-1 Korean Insurer for Custody Push

Kyobo, one of Korea’s largest and most established life insurers, will work with Ripple to assess both the technical and regulatory feasibility of tokenized Treasury settlement within Korea’s financial system. The custody layer sits at the center of that effort. Ripple described Ripple Custody as a bank-grade, fully integrated platform built for regulated financial institutions, supporting the secure transfer, settlement, and management of digital assets.

Notably, the announcement positions custody not as a standalone product, but as the first layer of a broader institutional stack that could later expand into tokenization, payments, liquidity, and treasury management. In other words, the bond-settlement pilot is being presented as infrastructure, not a one-off proof of concept.

Ripple also tied the partnership to a larger modernization argument around government bond markets. By settling transactions simultaneously on-chain, the companies say institutions could reduce counterparty risk and improve capital efficiency.

The leading cryptocurrency, Bitcoin ($BTC), has been experiencing a surge in recent days, influenced by the ceasefire talks between the US and Iran.

After rising above $76,000, $BTC, as it has for a long time, encountered resistance and was rejected, falling back to the $74,000 level.

While bullish expectations continue due to $BTC’s recent movements, one analyst has warned of a major drop.

At this point, popular analyst Ali Martinez said that Bitcoin is at a critical juncture.

According to Martinez, Bitcoin has once again tested the 100-day moving average (SMA), which is considered a significant resistance level.

Sharing his latest analysis from account X, the analyst stated that for the third time in the last six months, $BTC has retested the 100-day SMA level on the daily chart as a resistance point.

He added that $BTC absolutely needs to hold the $73,000 level to sustain its upward momentum.

The analyst noted that the market failed to hold this level twice, once in October last year and again in January this year, and said that if it doesn’t break this resistance permanently this time, further declines could occur.

Martinez warned that a failure of the current retest could form a triple top pattern. This pattern could potentially send the Bitcoin price back to its all-time low of $59,000.

Conversely, if $BTC breaks this resistance and establishes a sustained position above the 100-day SMA, the price could rise to the $80,000-$84,000 range, he stated.
