Bitcoin Exchange Upbit Adds This Fan Token to Its Trading Alert List! Here Are the Details

Upbit, one of South Korea’s leading cryptocurrency exchanges, announced that it has added the SPURS token to its “trading alert” list as part of its investor protection policies.

The exchange stated in its announcement that the decision was made in accordance with the audit processes implemented within the framework of the Digital Asset Exchanges Joint Advisory Board (DAXA).

According to the statement, reviews of the SPURS/BTC trading pair revealed that the token’s market capitalization and overall performance fell short of expectations, potentially posing risks to investors. Therefore, Upbit has temporarily placed the asset under monitoring to ensure user security.

The alert period will begin on April 16, 2026 at 17:30 and continue until July 16, 2026. During this time, the token’s status will be examined in detail, and a decision will be made on whether to continue trading support. The alert may be lifted, the period extended, or the token may be delisted entirely.

As part of the decision, deposit transactions for the SPURS token have also been temporarily suspended. Officials warned that deposits made after the specified date may not be reflected in user accounts and may be difficult to recover.

Upbit emphasized that it will continue to take steps to protect investors in line with its principles of regular auditing and transparency. Experts note that such warning decisions are generally aimed at increasing market discipline against high-risk assets.

Bitcoin [$BTC] exchange reserves have dropped massively, and Spot retail activity is close to recent lows. Regardless of it all, $BTC traders may have reason to believe.

Here’s why.

$BTC exchange reserves fall, retail demand weak

Bitcoin’s split.

On one hand, exchange reserves across all exchanges have been in freefall, down to 2.683 million $BTC at the latest reading. That’s one of the lowest reserve levels seen in recent months, down from close to 3 million $BTC in late April-May 2025.

There are fewer coins on exchanges, so no one’s in a rush to sell.

At the same time, price has recovered from the early February dip. Supply is getting tighter.

But here’s where things get interesting. Spot retail activity, seen through the trading frequency surge, is the weakest it’s been in the last year. After peaking when Bitcoin traded at the ATH range, retail participation fell and hasn’t shown any muscle since.

Bitcoin Scholars Fund Uses One Big Beautiful Bill Act to Fund Bitcoin and Financial Literacy

Bitcoin Scholars Fund officially launched April 15, 2026, as a 501(c)(3) Scholarship Granting Organization operating under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, also known as Public Law 119-21, signed into law July 4, 2025.

The federal law created a tax credit scholarship program for elementary and secondary education, effective for tax year 2027, with credits claimed in 2028. It is the first federal program of its kind.

Under the program, individual donors can contribute up to $1,700 per year to a qualified SGO and receive a 100% dollar-for-dollar nonrefundable federal tax credit. Couples can contribute up to $3,400. The net cost to a donor giving the maximum individual amount is zero.
Bitcoin Scholars Fund is structured as a qualified SGO under the law. Federal regulations require SGOs to direct at least 90% of donations to scholarships. The fund says it is targeting near-100% efficiency.

Scholarship funds support eligible K-12 students attending private or participating schools, covering qualified education expenses tied to bitcoin and financial literacy programs. Scholarships are tax-free to recipients under related provisions of the law.

Paxos Labs raises $12mln to solve THIS DeFi ‘product problem’

Paxos Labs has raised $12 million to solve what the project calls DeFi’s ‘product problem.’ Notably, Paxos Labs is a spin-off of the crypto infrastructure firm Paxos. 

Through its new Amplify, Paxos Labs believes it can make it super easy for users to earn yield, borrow, and lend assets at scale. 

In a statement, Spencer Bogart, general partner at Blockchain Capital, an early investor and one of the key firms that led the latest fundraising round, said,

The infrastructure problem is largely solved. The product problem, what users and platforms actually do with these assets on-chain, is the largest open opportunity in fintech today, and this is the team to build it.

For the unfamiliar, Paxos is a white-label issuer or simply a service provider that helps other firms to create and manage their branded stablecoins. 

However, the Paxos Labs spin-off was necessary to address the lack of clarity associated with DeFi regulation. Now, the team wants to go beyond branded stablecoins. 

Paxos Labs’ Amplify plans

Amplify is a new stack by Paxos Labs that allows users to mint, earn, and borrow assets. For institutions, Amplify aims to help apps and other fintechs make on-chain assets more productive.

The end goal? Empower users to earn yield.

‬Ethereum could be set for a bull rally, with technical indicators pointing to a critical juncture, according to a prominent market analyst.

In an analysis posted on X, Ali Martinez highlighted that ETH is currently testing the upper resistance line of an ascending triangle formation on the daily chart. The price action is robust, yet the TD Sequential tool is displaying a sell signal. This identical warning preceded a pullback to support the last time the asset traded near $2,400.

Nevertheless, the cryptocurrency has reclaimed its 100-day simple moving average, which the analyst interprets as evidence of solid underlying strength.

Martinez is now focusing on a daily close above $2,480. Such a move would likely invalidate the bearish TD signal and confirm a breakout from the triangle pattern, paving the way for a possible rally toward $2,900.

If Ethereum maintains support above $2,180 and successfully breaches the $2,400 resistance, it could extend gains to $2,750. Should it fail to defend that support, however, a retest of the $2,030 area cannot be ruled out.

Meanwhile, Ethereum is up 6.83% to $2,358.40 over the past 24h, outpacing Bitcoin’s 4.74% gain and a broader market rally, driven by easing geopolitical tensions and strong institutional ETF inflows.

Geopolitical de-escalation hopes and a sharp reversal in ETF flows shifted capital from Bitcoin to Ethereum, with ETH spot ETFs recording their strongest weekly inflows of 2026, totaling $187 million. A risk-on rotation into altcoins, evidenced by a rising ETH/BTC ratio, combined with a surge in on-chain utility, where daily transactions jumped 41% week-over-week.

Tether’s top government affairs official is now running one of the most well-funded political operations in the crypto world. Jesse Spiro, who serves as head of government affairs for the stablecoin giant, was named chair of Fellowship PAC earlier this month — a crypto-aligned super PAC that says it has more than $100 million ready to spend on the 2026 US midterm elections.

First Spending On Record
The group’s opening move was a $300,000 ad buy backing Clay Fuller, a Republican who won a special election to fill the Georgia 14th Congressional District seat left open after Marjorie Taylor Greene stepped down. That spending was formally reported to the Federal Election Commission and disbursed this week, roughly a month before Georgia’s Republican primary on May 19.

Fellowship did not stop there. The PAC posted a list of endorsements to its account on X, backing Republican candidates in five states. The list includes Alan Wilson for South Carolina governor, Blake Miguez for Louisiana’s 5th Congressional District, Mike Collins for a Georgia Senate seat, Julia Letlow for a Louisiana Senate seat, Pete Ricketts for Nebraska’s Senate race, and Nate Morris in Kentucky’s Senate contest.

South Korea’s Ministry of Economy and Finance will begin testing blockchain-based deposit tokens for government spending in the fourth quarter as part of a broader push to modernize how public funds are managed.
The ministry said the pilot to spend Treasury funds as digital currency was approved under a 2026 regulatory sandbox program, local media reported.
The approval allows business promotion expenses, currently processed with government purchasing cards, to be paid using tokenized deposits.

The change alters a long-standing system governed by the Treasury Funds Management Act, which required card-based payments. In the sandbox environment, agencies will be able to operate outside those rules on a limited basis to test new methods.
