The $XRP Ledger Foundation (XRPLF) has officially announced a major addition to its leadership ranks, welcoming Ripple Chief Technology Officer David Schwartz as an Honorary Board Member.

The appointment brings one of the most prominent and deeply knowledgeable figures in the cryptocurrency space directly into the fold of the independent non-profit tasked with fostering the XRPL ecosystem.

The Foundation announced the news via X (formerly Twitter), highlighting Schwartz’s foundational role in the creation of the network.

"We’re honored to welcome David Schwartz (@JoelKatz) as an Honorary Board Member of the $XRP Ledger Foundation," the organization stated. "As one of the original architects of the $XRP Ledger, David brings deep technical insight and a long-term perspective that will help strengthen the Foundation’s technical stewardship of the ecosystem."

The original architect

Schwartz, known affectionately across the crypto community by his handle "@JoelKatz," is a legendary figure within the $XRP ecosystem. In 2011, alongside Arthur Britto and Jed McCaleb, Schwartz was a core developer who built the original code for the $XRP Ledger—designing it as a faster, more energy-efficient alternative to the Bitcoin blockchain.

Currently serving as the CTO of Ripple, Schwartz has remained the most vocal and technically authoritative advocate for the XRPL, frequently engaging with developers, validators, and community members on social media to debate protocol mechanics and future upgrades.

Strengthening technical stewardship

The $XRP Ledger Foundation operates as an independent, non-profit entity separate from Ripple. Its primary mandate is to support the growth, security, and decentralized development of the $XRP Ledger. Crypto markets recover as liquidity improves and ETF demand expands - Can adoption outpace fragility?

Crypto markets gradually regained strength after easing geopolitical tensions improved broader risk appetite across global financial markets. Furthermore, the total market capitalization stabilized near $2.8 trillion, reflecting an 8% monthly recovery under improving liquidity conditions.



That recovery partly emerged as the U.S. dollar weakened, while DXY hovered near the 98 region. Meanwhile, Treasury yields stabilized between 4.38% and 4.40%, reducing pressure on risk-sensitive assets and encouraging capital rotation back into crypto.

Institutional demand also reinforced broader market resilience beneath the recovery structure. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs maintained cumulative inflows above $59 billion, while holdings surpassed 755,000 BTC.

Nonetheless, greater institutional integration makes crypto momentum more closely linked to conventional liquidity cycles, making it more susceptible to future changes in the macroeconomy.

$PENGU reclaimed the critical $0.010 support zone after spending months defending the $0.0061 base. Price previously collapsed from highs near $0.020 before entering a prolonged corrective structure that lasted through early 2026.

However, buyers regained control after April as the token started printing higher lows and stronger recovery candles. The recent rebound pushed $PENGU back above the psychological $0.010 level while the price steadily approached the major $0.014 resistance overhead.

That region previously rejected bullish continuation attempts several times during late 2025 and early 2026. The current structure showed improving strength because buyers continued defending pullbacks above support instead of surrendering recent gains.

If bulls reclaimed $0.014 decisively, the price would likely target higher liquidity zones established during the earlier breakdown phase. At press time, the Relative Strength Index cooled toward 61 after briefly pushing above the overbought threshold near 68.4.
