Large crypto liquidations in the last 24 hours, about 410 million dollarsthe last 24 hours there have been large liquidations on the crypto market.

According to Coinglass data, almost 165 million dollars of long positions were liquidated, and more than 240 million dollars of short positions.

In total, almost 410 million dollars of long or short positions were liquidated.

The liquidations
A long position is a bet on the price of an asset going up, while a short position is a bet on it going down.

To prevent any excessive losses from eroding the entire invested capital and generating further losses (which would create a debt), such positions are automatically closed by the platforms before the capital is completely eroded, in case of such risks.

In these cases they are true forced liquidations that turn out to be absolutely unavoidable if the losses risk becoming excessive.

Obviously, if such positions do not generate excessive losses, or are even in profit, they are not liquidated, unless the investor has set an automatic take-profit (TP) at a specific price.

Therefore forced liquidations, caused by losses, must be distinguished from automatic closing of profitable take-profits.

Volatility and forced liquidations
If long or short positions are leveraged, the risk of them being liquidated increases significantly.

A leveraged position is in fact based on a loan, which must however always be repaid in full including interest. Precisely to prevent the invested capital from no longer being able to repay the loan, or pay the interest, when the losses accumulated by a long or short position are excessive, the position is automatically forcibly liquidated by the platform.

The higher the leverage, the more money has been borrowed, and the easier it is to be liquidated.

CoinGlass data shows that Ether posted a negative quarter 4 in 2025. Q1 2026 followed the same path, and now Q2 is underway. Traders are watching closely to see whether $ETH can avoid a historic third straight quarterly decline. Till now, it has been running up by more than 11% this fiscal quarter.

Back in 2022, Bitcoin saw a complete year of red quarterly indexes. Ether managed to break the cycle of back-to-back three negative quarters that year and printed gains of 24% in Q3. All of a sudden, Bitcoin’s peer-to-peer communication layer for full nodes, known as its gossip channel, found four times more addresses than it did a month ago. Jameson Lopp has questioned whether somebody might be spinning up nodes for a sybil attack.

Lopp posted a concerning chart from a live network monitor on Sunday, flagging a sharp spike to 250,000 unique IP and IP-like addresses per day, after spending the prior eight years below 65,000.

The chart, maintained by a research group of the Karlsruher Institut für Technologie in Germany, tracks daily unique addresses via unsolicited ADDR messages.

ADDR and its variants, short for “address,” is a type of peer-to-peer message that Bitcoin nodes broadcast randomly to gossip about IP or IP-like addresses of full nodes with which they have established contact.

Messages sent via ADDR assist nodes with peer discovery. After connecting to a few initial nodes, new nodes during their early moments of entering the Bitcoin network randomly receive ADDR messages on an unsolicited basis, quickly learning about additional nodes.

Establishing a robust mesh empowers nodes to more efficiently broadcast and receive Bitcoin transactions and blocks.

For over eight years, the German researcher’s monitoring system found daily unique IP addresses in unsolicited ADDR messages ranging between roughly 30,000-60,000. Starting in mid-April 2026, however, it diverged sharply to the upside, reaching roughly 250,000 by early May.

Innocuous interpretations of the data involve simple housekeeping or a sudden increase in legitimate network participation.

On the other hand, a hostile interpretation flagged preparation for a communication-based attack on Bitcoin nodes.

Bitcoin has continued to flash signs of a key recovery in its onchain profitability metric as market sentiment retains positivity amid the recent price rally.

On Monday, May 11, crypto analytics platform CryptoQuant shared data on Bitcoin's Adjusted Spent Output Profit Ratio (aSOPR), revealing that the metric has now remained above the crucial 1.0 level for nine consecutive days.

This shows that the Bitcoin tokens that have been recently moved on-chain are once again being sold at sustained profits rather than losses.

While the metric is used to measure whether Bitcoin holders are realizing gains or losses when spending the token, the chart provided by the source shows that the profitability metric is currently above the 1.0 level.

It is important to note that when the aSOPR metric is above 1, it means that market participants are selling at a profit on average, while readings below 1 suggest coins are being moved at a loss.

While this is the current case for Bitcoin, it is more interesting as the metric has remained above 1.0 for nine consecutive days, signaling sustained strength.

While Bitcoin has made the move consistently for over a week, the sustained nine-day streak above 1 marks the longest sustained profitable-spending sequence seen since October 2024.

With the renewed strength signaled in the Bitcoin network activity, the price of the asset has remained resilient despite the increased profit-taking activity from holders.

Thus, this shows that retail and institutional demand is significantly outweighing the pressure from sellers.

Ark Invest bought $5.5 million worth of shares in Circle Internet (CRCL) on Monday as the stablecoin developer's stock pumped following its first-quarter earnings report.

The St. Petersburg, Florida-based investment manager added 41,904 shares across three of its exchange-traded funds (ETFs): Innovation (ARKK), Next Generation Internet (ARKW) and Blockchain and Fintech Innovation (ARKF).

CRCL shares rose 16% to $131.76, the highest closing price since March 18, after the company posted estimate-beating earnings per share (EPS) of 21 cents.

Circle, whose USDC is the second-largest stablecoin, also revealed a $222 million raise for its Arc blockchain in a presale of the ARC token.

The purchase is Ark's first of Circle stock since March 24, when it bought $16.3 million worth as the shares slumped 20%. It last sold CRCL on April 17, dumping $1.2 million worth on a day the stock closed at around $106.

The Cathie Wood-led company frequently buys into weakness in equities to capture greater value and rebalance the weighting of its ETFs. It is less common to see sizeable purchases that coincide with large share-price gains.

$PENGU reclaimed the critical $0.010 support zone after spending months defending the $0.0061 base. Price previously collapsed from highs near $0.020 before entering a prolonged corrective structure that lasted through early 2026.

However, buyers regained control after April as the token started printing higher lows and stronger recovery candles. The recent rebound pushed $PENGU back above the psychological $0.010 level while the price steadily approached the major $0.014 resistance overhead.

That region previously rejected bullish continuation attempts several times during late 2025 and early 2026. The current structure showed improving strength because buyers continued defending pullbacks above support instead of surrendering recent gains.

If bulls reclaimed $0.014 decisively, the price would likely target higher liquidity zones established during the earlier breakdown phase. At press time, the Relative Strength Index cooled toward 61 after briefly pushing above the overbought threshold near 68.4.

Earlier bullish acceleration drove RSI higher as $PENGU recovered from its April consolidation range.
