Will the Uptrend That Brought Bitcoin (BTC) Above $82,000 Continue? Bitfinex Analysts Explain

Bitcoin ($BTC) has been on an upward trend since the beginning of the week, with the price rising above $82,000.

This situation looks strong for $BTC at first glance. However, according to Bitfinex analysts, the recent move may be more of an attempted uptrend than a true rally.

In their latest report, Bitfinex analysts stated that although Bitcoin has risen above $80,000, it is still not positioned for an upward move, and demand is not strong enough to support the rise.

Underlying demand is improving, driven by steady inflows from spot ETFs and continued accumulation by institutions like Strategy. However, demand is not yet strong enough to absorb the excess supply and confirm a sustainable breakout.

At this point, according to analysts, given market conditions, it seems more likely that Bitcoin will move negatively rather than positively.

“…due to the lack of a clear liquidity headwind and the continued geopolitical risk in the Middle East, Bitcoin needs strong demand from the spot market to definitively rise.”

Analysts argue that a close above $84,766 is necessary for the uptrend to continue, while a drop below $78,000 would invalidate the rally.

The Cardano Foundation has formed a significant partnership with the University of Brasília (UnB), making great strides toward promoting blockchain adoption in South America. This marks an important milestone in launching the first Cardano Project Development Lab located in Latin America. These labs are meant to help connect the academic research community to real-life cases for decentralized applications (dApps).

A Hub for Innovation in Latin America
The Project Development Lab established by the Cardano Foundation will provide a foundation for all future blockchain related research and education throughout the community. The development lab will be working with one of Brazil’s leading universities to facilitate this by providing the best possible environment for developing a local talent pool of development and research.

The Foundation initiated a project that was part of their strategy to eliminate barriers to entry. The Foundation translated all their Academy materials into Brazilian Portuguese and has since created a Cardano Blockchain Certified Associate Course. This helps to foster local talent in Brazil.

Decentralized exchange volume on Ethereum has dropped about 53% over the past six months. DApp revenue has fallen about 49%. Solana and Hyperliquid combined now account for roughly 42% of DApp revenue market share, even though Ethereum’s total value locked (TVL) remains six times larger than its nearest competitor.

Bitcoin ($BTC) has staged a notable 21% recovery over the thirty-day timeframe, pushing the largest cryptocurrency in the market above the $81,000 level for the first time since January. Bitcoin Targets $89,000 And $94,000
Technical analyst Ali Martinez pointed to this momentum in a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), arguing that Bitcoin continues to show “structural strength.”
Martinez referenced a bullish Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) crossover on Bitcoin’s weekly chart that occurred on April 13. Since that weekly signal appeared, $BTC has gained roughly 15% in a relatively steady grind, reinforcing the idea that the tre

ctober 23, 2023 crossover was followed by a 147% rally. Another example on October 14, 2024 led to a 75% rise, while the May 5, 2025 crossover resulted in a 35% rally.
Even with the broader bullish backdrop, the near-term chart still presents a key test. Martinez highlighted that Bitcoin is moving into the vicinity of the 200-day simple moving average (200SMA), currently around $83,000.

He described this area as the most important psychological and structural barrier on the daily chart. In his view, a clean daily close above this level could open the door to a macro expansion, first toward $89,000, with a secondary target near $94,000.

Toncoin doubles on growing Make TON Great Again momentum
Toncoin ($TON) extended its rally overnight as markets braced for the second half of Pavel Durov’s seven-step Make $TON Great Again (MTONGA) roadmap.
