Ripple CTO Regrets Censoring Ozzy Osbourne

A Ripple executive said he felt bad about the situation and that “it wasn’t the authentic celebrity interaction” he was aiming for.

Ripple CTO David Schwartz has admitted that he once faked fan questions for Black Sabbath and filtered out late rock legend Ozzy Osbourne’s answers during what was supposed to be a real Q&A with fans — something he now regrets.

“I cheated,” Schwartz wrote in a message to X on Thursday.

“It was a failure for me personally, but a success for everyone else,” he recalled of his job at WebMaster, where he was tasked with typing out fan responses for Osbourne, who died Tuesday at age 76, and other members of Black Sabbath using the company’s ConferenceRoom software.
