FATF Tightens Global Crypto Compliance Push

Crypto oversight climbed the global policy agenda after Financial Action Task Force (FATF) ministers increased pressure on countries to close gaps in digital asset regulation. In a declaration issued on April 17, the intergovernmental standard setter linked stronger anti-money laundering enforcement to faster action on virtual assets. The message was clear: jurisdictions that lag on crypto rules will face greater scrutiny.

The declaration framed crypto within a broader push to modernize defenses against illicit finance. Ministers stated in the declaration:

“We support responsible innovation in finance.”

That language is notable because FATF did not portray blockchain-based finance as inherently risky. Instead, it said technology, including artificial intelligence, can strengthen supervision and compliance when backed by safeguards. The same section also supported work on emerging payment technologies and related risks, while urging quicker implementation of crypto standards across the FATF network.

Recommendation 15, titled “New Technologies,” remains FATF’s main global standard for virtual assets (VA) and virtual asset service providers (VASPs). Crypto analyst Lars, active on X, has updated his technical framework for Dogecoin after tracking the asset for weeks. His revised model now points to a structured distribution pattern forming near current price levels. The update carries weight because Lars has correctly anticipated prior price action, including a tap of $0.10 on April 6. He is now waiting for what he calls a TCT model 1 distribution confirmation before entering a trade.
Resistance Band Defines the Battleground

Lars has revised the starting point of the current trading range. This adjustment changes how the compression structure is read on both short and medium timeframes.

On the one-hour chart, Dogecoin is shown pressing into a pink resistance band stretching from $0.098 to just above $0.10. Rising local lows beneath this band suggest buyers have been consistent. However, Lars projects one more push higher into a third tap of resistance before a potential rejection. The four-hour chart mirrors this setup on a wider scale. Lars labels the zone a decisional range and is watching it for distribution schematics. His position is clear: no confirmation, no trade.

The $0.098 to $0.10 zone has held as stubborn resistance since late March. Sellers remain active near that ceiling. Yet the latest price action shows a higher high compared to the April 6 low, which is a subtle but important shift. Buyers are not retreating.

The $LINK/BTC weekly pair trades near 0.0001235 (down 1.04%), with price grinding lower in a descending channel. MACD on this pair also displays weakness, with the histogram remaining negative.

Overall, both pairs indicate a market that has been in a multi-quarter corrective phase, though the current levels could represent a potential accumulation zone if fundamental catalysts materialize.

On-Chain and Ecosystem Momentum

Despite the price action, Chainlink’s network utility remains strong. The Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) saw monthly volumes jump 62% year-over-year to $18 billion in early 2026.

The network has added 18 new integrations across 22 blockchains and nine services in recent months, including collaborations with Aave, Coinbase, GMX, and tokenized asset platforms.

The team detected unusual cross-chain activity and quickly paused smart contracts across the main network and several Layer-2 systems. The platform stated that it “investigates” the issue while assessing the full scope of the breach. Meanwhile, the exploit focused on the rsETH adapter bridge contract. The attacker gained access to funds by targeting this contract, leading to a large outflow within a short time. Stolen Funds Moved Through Crypto Channels Cyvers reported that the attacker used an address funded through Tornado Cash. This tool is often used to obscure transaction trails. A large portion of the stolen funds, about $250 million, has already been converted into Ether. The movement of funds has raised concerns among platforms connected to rsETH. Monitoring teams continue to track the assets as they move across networks. No recovery of funds has been confirmed so far. Kelp has not released further technical details about the breach at this stage. Moreover, the attack caused what Cyvers described as “cross-protocol contagion.” At least nine crypto platforms had exposure to rsETH and took action to limit risk.
