On March 3, 2026, the U.S. government completed its first Bitcoin transfer of the year, drawing attention from the crypto community. The transaction involved approximately 0.33 BTC—valued at just under $23,000—moved from wallets labeled “Miguel Villanueva Seized Funds.” While the amount was modest, the activity attracted scrutiny from blockchain analysts.
According to Arkham Intelligence, the funds were redistributed across three previously unknown addresses. This represents the first movement since late 2025, when authorities transferred larger sums to Coinbase Prime. Despite this transaction, the United States remains one of the world’s largest Bitcoin holders, controlling approximately 328,371 BTC, currently valued at $22.45 billion.
Market Outlook
Industry experts predict that such transfers will face increasing scrutiny following the establishment of the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve (SBR). Under current federal policy, seized Bitcoins are intended for long-term retention rather than liquidation. Analysts suggest that while small administrative transfers, like the Miguel Villanueva movement, may continue for operational purposes, large-scale government sell-offs in 2026 are unlikely.
The U.S. government’s commitment to a long-term HODL strategy is expected to create a psychological support level for Bitcoin, reinforcing its position as a legitimate state-held reserve asset.

Claude, the competing assistant developed by Anthropic, rose to the top of Apple’s US download rankings, according to Appfigures.

Altman said the company is revising its agreement to include explicit language barring domestic surveillance of US persons, citing constitutional and national security statutes. The updated terms will prohibit deliberate tracking or monitoring of Americans, including through commercially obtained personal data.

He added that the Defense Department confirmed its services would not be used by intelligence agencies like the NSA without a separate contract modification.

In a follow-up post, Altman stressed that AI governance must remain subject to democratic oversight and that no private company should determine the trajectory of society. He said the firm intends to collaborate with governments while safeguarding civil liberties.
