Bitcoin Breaking Out Above $80K: How High Can BTC Really Go in May 2026?Having broken out of its bear flag on Monday, the $BTC price is starting to hold above this crucial formation. The price needs to spend more time above the flag before the breakout can be official. If this happens, how far could Bitcoin rally from here?

Bitcoin holds above bear flag and now looking to break major resistanceThe above short-term time frame chart reveals the current breakout for the $BTC price. After initially breaking through the upper trendline of the bear flag, the price did dip back inside the flag, but as can be seen, the price is in a small ascending channel, and it was the bottom of this channel that held as support.

The price did emerge from the flag again, and now it can be observed that after getting rejected from the $80,600 horizontal resistance, a new 4-hour candle has opened above. The price has just rejected from the top of the channel, so it now remains to be seen whether the price can hold onto this major level and flip it into support.

So far so good for the bullsThe daily chart gives us an even clearer view of this breakout. While the picture on Monday morning looked to be portraying a possible fakeout, the $BTC price was just about able to stay above the upper trendline of the bear flag, and now on Tuesday there is a firm green candle standing above the flag. There is still the rest of the day to go, but things are looking good so far for the bulls.

It can be seen in the chart that while the 50-day SMA and 100-day SMA have had a bullish cross up, the 200-day SMA is soon to become another strong barrier for the bulls to overcome.

It also needs to be taken into account, that if the price should get there, the $84,600 horizontal resistance level is also the area where a CME futures gap can be closed.

The chart shows SETH pushing into the $2,400 to $2,500 area before losing momentum. That zone includes the weekly 200MA near $2,457 and the weekly 200EMA near $2,557. Daan said rejection there is a logical place for Ethereum to consolidate. The lower support area remains near $2,100. The chart marks that level as a key higher timeframe zone, and $ETH recently reclaimed it after the sharp drop earlier this year. Holding above $2,100 keeps Ethereum inside its current recovery structure.
However, the $2,400 to $2,500 band now acts as the main resistance. A clean break above that range would give SETH another chance to test $2,800, which has acted as an important level several times over the past few years.
The chart also shows the 2021 all time high near $4,864, far above the current price.
Before $ETH can move toward higher targets, it needs to clear the moving average resistance and reclaim the $2,800 zone.
For now, Ethereum remains between support and resistance. A hold above $2,100 would keep the consolidation controlled, while a break below it would weaken the higher timeframe setup.

Bitcoin Sweeps $80K Liquidity as Whale Orders Get Wiped

Bitcoin traded near $79,804 on the 15-minute $BTC chart shared by CryptoCache, after a sharp move into the $80,000 area.

The chart shows $BTC pushing quickly from the lower $78,400 range toward $80,184. The move hit a heavy whale order zone near $80,000, marked by a green circle and arrow.

CryptoCache said $35.6 million in spot limit orders was wiped out at $80,000. That means price moved into a large liquidity area and cleared resting orders around that level.

The chart also shows several large red sell zones above and near price, including notable whale order levels around $81,000, $82,000, $84,000, $85,000, $86,500, $90,000, and higher.

The analyst expects downside after the move, saying the last shorts from the past seven days were fully liquidated. In simple terms, the upside move may have cleared short-side liquidity, leaving less fuel for an immediate continuation.

If $BTC fails to hold above $80,000, price could return toward the nearby support area around $79,200 to $79,600. A deeper pullback could bring the $78,400 range back into focus.
