As the Rally in Bitcoin Continues, an Analysis Firm Issues a “Greed” Warning

As cryptocurrency markets conclude a volatile week, a notable warning has come from leading analytics firm Santiment. The optimism that has dominated the market following Bitcoin’s vượt qua the $82,000 mark is being interpreted as a “risk signal” in light of the data.

Bitcoin surged to $82,800 this week, its best performance in three months. However, Ethereum’s drop below $2,300 and the overall decline in market capitalization suggest a decrease in investor interest.

Analysts say this significant drop in trading volume indicates a more stable period compared to the volatility of the past week.

According to Santiment’s internal metrics, current market sentiment has entered the “extreme greed” zone. Experts, noting that this often signals a correction, warn that prices could fall to the $75,000 level.

The short-term MVRV (Market Value – Realized Value) ratio being around 3.5% also increases the risk of profit taking.

Data reveals the largest drop in Bitcoin wallet numbers since the summer of 2024. Approximately 272,000 small (individual) investor wallets have been emptied in the last six days.

Santiment interprets this situation as “individual investors exiting the market,” while noting that large shareholders (whales) are currently holding back and not accumulating wealth.

In contrast to the greed surrounding Bitcoin, Ethereum is dominated by more fear (FUD). According to the analysis firm, this could create a “sneaky buying opportunity” for Ethereum if Bitcoin maintains its current levels.

Summary Tether has frozen more than $514 million USDT across 370 addresses in the past 30 days, mostly on Tron. BlockSec says Tether blacklisted 4,163 addresses in 2025, freezing a total of $1.26 billion USDT on Ethereum and Tron. The growing use of blacklists underscores how centralized stablecoins now operate as de facto enforcement tools embedded in crypto rails. Tether has frozen over $514 million worth of USDT in the last 30 days, locking funds across 370 addresses on Ethereum and Tron, according to data cited by Cointelegraph. BlockSec's USDT Freeze Tracker shows that about $506 million of the frozen tokens sit on Tron and roughly $8.73 million on Ethereum, once again highlighting Tron's central role in USDT flows. Separately, BlockSec's on-chain report, titled "$1.26 Billion Frozen: USDT Blacklisting on Ethereum and Tron in 2025," found that Tether blacklisted 4,163 unique addresses last year, freezing a cumulative $1.26 billion in USDT and permanently destroying more than half of it via its destroyBlackFunds function.

Bernstein sets $100 IREN target after $3.4 billion NVIDIA AI deal
Bernstein set a $100 price target on IREN, implying 76% upside from the stock’s Thursday close of $56.85 following a partnership with NVIDIA.

The agreement includes a $3.4 billion cloud contract for NVIDIA’s internal workloads and provides NVIDIA the right to invest $2.1 billion in equity.

Analysts at research and brokerage firm Bernstein have issued a price target of $100 for IREN, following the announcement of a long-term strategic partnership with NVIDIA that includes a $3.4 billion AI cloud contract and an equity option allowing NVIDIA to invest $2.1 billion at $70 per share. 

IREN shares closed at $56.85 on May 7, according to The Block's IREN price page, with Bernstein’s price target implying about 76% upside from that level. 

In a note to clients on Friday, Bernstein analysts, led by Gautam Chhugani, characterized the development as a potentially significant technological and capital alignment between the two firms. 

The analysts noted that by securing NVIDIA as a strategic partner for its 2GW Sweetwater flagship site, IREN obtains both technological backing for advanced AI factory architecture and a high degree of confidence regarding GPU supply as hardware transitions to next-generation platforms.

According to the analysts, while IREN must still secure an anchor client and broader enterprise customers for the Sweetwater site, the company has improved its competitive and technological positioning given the scale of the 2GW project.

Bernstein also noted that IREN remains on schedule to execute the 200MW Horizon data center delivery for Microsoft, with the first 50MW facility due in Q3.
