Arbitrum governance is moving toward a major recovery milestone after more than 90% of ARB voters supported the proposal to release $71 million worth of frozen ETH connected to the Kelp DAO exploit. The proposal was jointly backed by major DeFi players including Aave Labs, EtherFi, LayerZero, Compound and Kelp DAO, showing a rare level of coordination across the decentralized finance ecosystem.

The frozen 30,765 ETH was locked by Arbitrum’s Security Council after the Kelp DAO exploit drained over 116,500 rsETH, causing losses estimated near $290 million. If the final onchain governance vote passes, the funds will be transferred into a recovery multisig wallet managed by trusted industry participants. This is being viewed as one of the largest coordinated DeFi recovery efforts in recent months.

At the same time, several protocols participating in the “DeFi United” initiative have pledged around 43,000 ETH to help reduce systemic risks and stabilize rsETH backing. Despite this progress, the ecosystem still faces a shortfall exceeding 76,000 rsETH, meaning the recovery process is far from complete.

Arbitrum DAO is also preparing to deploy 6,000 ETH from its treasury into yield-generating strategies, a move expected to strengthen treasury efficiency and produce additional revenue for the ecosystem over the next year.

The situation highlights how modern DeFi governance is evolving beyond simple voting systems into coordinated crisis management involving multiple protocols, treasury strategies and community-led recovery operations. The final onchain vote could become a defining moment for trust and resilience across the broader Ethereum and DeFi ecosystem.

Bitcoin’s latest rally hit a wall just below its 200‑day simple moving average on Wednesday, with $BTC coming within striking distance of the long‑watched level around $83,300 before rolling over and falling back below $81,000, CoinDesk reported. The failed attempt has revived memories of March 2022, when Bitcoin briefly reclaimed its 200‑day SMA only to reverse sharply and sink to roughly $20,000 by June, punishing traders who treated the breakout as confirmation that a new bull run had begun.

Key technical test echoes 2022 fake-out

Market participants treat the 200‑day line as a rough dividing line between long‑term bull and bear regimes. If Bitcoin can sustain closes above that band, it would reinforce the increasingly popular thesis that “the bear market ended when $BTC fell below $63,000 in February” and that the current phase is the early leg of a fresh bull cycle. But the inability to hold above the average on this attempt, combined with risk‑off action across majors, has some desks cautioning that the market may be setting up another “false breakout” akin to 2022
