Bitcoin’s volatility or price swings have eased and it is now closing in on gold.

In the past, most criticism from investment advisors against $BTC as a hedge or an alternative to gold has been that it’s too volatile to be included in clients’ portfolios.

The tightening gap in volatility, according to Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas, could be a “good sign.”

Bitcoin’s volatility and correlation is getting closer and closer to gold’s, which is underreported and perhaps one positive from this rough patch.

The 60-day volatility index has dropped from over 60 to around 35 for BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT). Similarly, the gold ETF’s volatility dipped from 43 to around 25.

Citing insights from high-level ETF leaders, Balchunas added,

The big boy money out there (institutions, advisors) is not interested in tech stock returns from $BTC (they can get that in QQQ et al), they want gold-like returns, a true alternative asset because diversification is only free lunch.

According to him, the “true alternative asset” status can only be achieved if both assets have similar volatility. It remains to be seen if $BTC and gold will eventually close the volatility gap.

$BTC and gold ETF outflows deepen

The shrinking volatility among the two assets has also coincided with ETF outflows. Notably, overall $BTC ETF inflows topped $5B in early May. At the time of writing, the flows had dropped to nearly zero.

Gold has seen even more investor exits. For instance, gold ETFs recorded nearly $8 billion in outflows over the same period.

For JPMorgan analysts led by Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou, this was a cool-off of the “debasement trade” or demand for macro hedges as investors anticipate a likely U.S-Iran deal.

ApeCoin [$APE] is up by about 11% in the past 24 hours, outperforming a nearly flat broader crypto market. Different altcoin sectors are gradually returning to last week’s positive gains after retracing for the last three days.

However, the crypto market remains quiet, an alarming signal to the continuation of $APE’s rally.

ApeCoin bounces off 80% Fib level
In the last two weeks of April, ApeCoin rallied by more than 184%, reaching a value of $0.2786. Consequently, a massive correction that lasted for more than a month followed. This correction pulled back about 80% of the aforementioned rally.

The MACD bars show that bulls’ strength is increasing, though in the current session it has slowed down. The Choppiness Index (CHOP) at 40 is supporting a potential uptrend.

The upper resistance of the descending channel runs from $0.1903 to $0.1300. To stay bullish, $APE bulls need to keep the altcoin above $0.13, and it’s currently approaching it for a retest.

Nevertheless, Bitcoin is now entering a critical order block between $70K and $72K. This zone has historically attracted significant demand and currently overlaps with the rising trendline support shown on the chart. The market reaction here will likely determine the next major move.

A short-term bullish pullback remains possible if buyers step in around this support cluster. In that scenario, $BTC could revisit the $74K-$76K region as a corrective rebound. However, if the current support fails to hold, bearish momentum could accelerate rapidly toward the $65K-$66K liquidity zone.

Therefore, the $70K-$72K area represents the most important short-term battlefield between buyers and sellers.

SUI falls below key support as network outages shake confidence - Can bulls regain control?

Sui remains locked in a long-term bearish structure that has persisted since its rejection near the $3.80 region.

Since then, the price has consistently formed lower highs and lower lows. It shows a market where sellers continue overpowering recovery attempts.

That trend accelerated during late 2025 as it lost the $2.04 support zone.

Once buyers failed to reclaim that level, bearish momentum strengthened further. The subsequent breakdown below $1.42 reinforced the shift, transforming a former demand area into overhead resistance.

More recently, attention has shifted to the psychological $1.00 level. Buyers briefly defended this region throughout March and April, creating a period of consolidation.

However, repeated tests gradually weakened support, allowing sellers to regain control. As a result, SUI slipped toward the $0.86–$0.90 zone, where it currently trades.

Yet the structure is not entirely one-sided. The sharp rebound toward $1.40 during May showed buyers remain active at discounted levels.

Still, that rally failed to establish a higher high, suggesting demand continues absorbing supply rather than reversing trend direction.

This behavior implies market participants remain cautious. Until it reclaims $1.00 and begins forming higher lows, rallies may continue attracting sellers, leaving the broader trend tilted toward further weakness.
