Aave’s founder, Stani Kulechov, has praised the UK’s new tax policy for crypto lending and liquidity pools.
On July 13, HMRC introduced a “No Gain, No Loss” (NGNL) rule for crypto lending and liquidity pools, which means that deposits into protocols like Aave will no longer trigger immediate capital gains tax.
The new tax policy is a major breakthrough for the UK’s crypto users as it makes lending and liquidity pools more tax-friendly for everyday users.

Taiwanese celebrity and crypto influencer Jeffrey Huang, widely known as Machi Big Brother, has sold his Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) #251 non-fungible token ($NFT) at a loss to increase his long position on Ethereum ($ETH). Ethereum Price Forecast: BitMine tops up treasury, ETH ETFs snap eight-week outflow streak

BitMine purchased 27,801 ETH last week, lifting its holdings to 5.77 million ETH.

Ethereum ETFs ended an eight-week outflow streak after recording $84.42 million in inflows last week.

ETH could bounce off the convergence of the 20-day EMA and $1,740 support level.

Ethereum (ETH) treasury firm BitMine Immersion Technologies (BMNR) continued its weekly accumulation of the top altcoin last week.

The company topped up its holdings with a purchase of 27,801 ETH, lifting its holdings to 5.77 million ETH, worth roughly $10.25 billion at the time of writing. As a result, BitMine is 96% closer to its goal of acquiring 5% of ETH's circulating supply in just over a year of pivoting toward an Ethereum treasury, the company stated.
From that figure, the Las Vegas-based firm has deployed over 4.91 million ETH into securing the Ethereum network via its Made in America Validator Network (MAVAN), launched earlier this year. An increase of about 38,000 compared to previous weeks.

"Annualized staking revenue are now projected at $242 million. And this 4.9 million ETH is 85% of the 5.77 million ETH held by Bitmine. Bitmine's own staking operations generated a 7-day yield of 2.70% (annualized)," said BitMine Chairman Thomas Lee in a Monday statement.

BitMine also reported holdings of 206 Bitcoin (BTC), a $180 million stake in Beast Industries, a $69 million stake in Worldcoin treasury firm Eightco Holdings (ORBS) and total cash and marketable securities of $482 million.

BitMine was not the only institutional buyer last week, as US spot ETH exchange-traded funds (ETFs) recorded $84.42 million in net inflows, snapping an eight-week outflow streak, per SoSoValue data.

The US Department of Justice is reportedly moving to drop charges against the founder of BitClub Network, a purported crypto mining platform that allegedly defrauded investors of $722 million between 2014 and 2019. A court filing shows Matthew Goettsche’s attorneys wrote to New Jersey District Court Judge Claire Cecchi on Wednesday, stating that the parties “reached an agreement in principle” to resolve the pending charges “but need time to finalize the terms.”

The filing came after the deputy attorney general’s office in Washington reportedly ordered the New Jersey attorney general’s office to dismiss the case against Goettsche with prejudice, according to a report on Friday from Bloomberg Law, citing two sources familiar with the matter. 

Goettsche was indicted in December 2019 and was set to face trial in October for conspiracy to commit wire fraud and selling unregistered securities. A reversal would mark one of the more notable changes in US crypto enforcement history, particularly given that three of his former colleagues, Silviu Balaci, Joseph Abel and Gordon Beckstead, have pleaded guilty for their involvement in the scheme.
