Last week, the crypto world got a jolt when on-chain investigator ZachXBT fired off an emergency alert. Polymarket's UMA Conditional Token Framework (CTF) Adapter contract on Polygon had been exploited, with attackers draining over $520,000 — primarily in POL tokens and USDC.e. So what actually happened?
This wasn't a bug in the live smart contract code. The attack came down to something far more basic — a compromised old private key belonging to an internal Polymarket operations wallet. That wallet had admin privileges tied to the UMA CTF Adapter on Polygon, and the attacker used it to sign legitimate-looking transactions that quietly drained funds straight out of the adapter. As the attack unfolded in real time, losses climbed from $520,000 to over $660,000, with the attacker pulling roughly 5,000 POL tokens every 30 seconds. Bubblemaps, Lookonchain, and PeckShield all independently confirmed the exploit was live and ongoing.  (CoinPedia)
Here's the key distinction everyone needs to understand:
The UMA CTF Adapter is custom integration code written and deployed by Polymarket — it is not part of UMA's audited core protocol.  (Yahoo Finance) UMA's underlying system was untouched.

The impact was particularly strong among younger travelers. Approximately 61% of respondents aged 18 to 34 reported that increasing flight costs had influenced their travel plans, demonstrating growing sensitivity to overall vacation expenses. Despite the challenges, many consumers are adjusting their travel habits rather than giving up cruises altogether.
More than half of those surveyed said they would consider booking cruises that depart from ports closer to their homes to reduce airfare expenses. Additionally, 46% indicated they are actively looking for cruise packages that include airfare, allowing them to better manage travel costs.However, the survey also revealed potential risks for cruise operators. Around 45% of respondents said they are considering alternative vacation options, including land-based resorts and road trips, as a way to avoid expensive flights. Meanwhile, 43% stated they were somewhat or very likely to postpone or cancel a future cruise vacation if airline ticket prices remain elevated.According to Deutsche Bank analysts, these findings suggest that cruise customers are becoming increasingly price-conscious. If oil prices remain high and continue driving airfare costs upward, cruise companies could face difficulties maintaining strong occupancy levels and premium pricing strategies. The feeling toward Bitcoin on social media has reached its most bullish level of the year, even as the overall crypto market is down, according to crypto sentiment platform Santiment.

“Sentiment on Bitcoin has spiked to 2.23 bullish comments for every bearish one — the most lopsided positive ratio of 2026,” Santiment said in a report published on Saturday.

“The previous two biggest positive-ratio days of the year preceded short-term price pullbacks, while severely negative readings marked local bottoms. The current euphoria contrasts sharply with the bearish ETF flow picture and warrants caution," Santiment said. Spot Bitcoin ETFs logged their tenth consecutive trading day of outflows on Friday, with total net redemptions exceeding $2.97 billion since May 15.
