Billionaire Mark Cuban: Cryptocurrencies definitely have a place, what's missing are new apps

The cryptocurrency space seems to have lost its luster and the excitement it once brought, billionaire Mark Cuban said at Vox Media's annual Code 2022 conference on Sept. 6. There's definitely a place for cryptocurrencies. What's missing is new applications. Just like in the early days of the internet, we sailed with it. It's all pretty boring, isn't it? Because we didn't see anything new. And what was really needed was the emergence of the mobile internet to really drive it forward. And we don't have that opportunity with cryptocurrencies right now, so it's a bit boring. deFi and NFT might generate some small interest from people.
