Broadcom Negotiates Over $60 Billion AI Chip Financing

08/20 23:10

On August 21, sources revealed that Broadcom (AVGO.O) is in talks with a group of lending institutions to raise over $60 billion in debt funding for an AI chip financing deal, which will benefit companies like Anthropic. The financing plan is still being finalized and may also include a subordinated debt portion of approximately $30 billion. Several insiders indicated that under the proposed plan, Broadcom would guarantee part of the senior secured debt, which could range between $60 billion and $70 billion. If the currently discussed scale is realized, the total financing plan could reach up to $100 billion. This agreement will further fuel the financing boom surrounding AI infrastructure development. AI companies, including Anthropic, are increasingly involved in infrastructure development to ensure they have adequate computing power. Meanwhile, Broadcom is also seeking to expand its sales of chips and other data center equipment, challenging Nvidia in this lucrative market.
