Further Delay in SEC's Tokenization Innovation Exemption, Details Not Yet Released

08/13 22:05

On August 14, a crypto reporter from Fox Business posted on the X platform, stating that, according to an informed source, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) tokenization innovation exemption will be further delayed, and relevant details will not be made public for the time being. The source indicated that one reason for the delay may be ongoing negotiations among stakeholders regarding the tokenization section of Section 10505 of the Clarity Act. Any actions taken by the SEC through the innovation exemption could impact the compromise of that provision. This suggests that the exemption may remain on hold until the path forward for the Clarity Act becomes clearer. The SEC still plans to hold a public meeting tomorrow at 10 AM to propose new regulations and exemption measures related to fundraising transactions involving crypto assets, referred to as Regulation Crypto Assets.
