Chairman of U.S. public company watchdog resigns at request of SEC chief

Erica Williams, chairman of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) in the United States, has resigned. This comes after Paul Atkins, chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, requested her resignation. According to an email Williams sent to PCAOB staff, her last day of work will be July 22. Williams began serving as PCAOB chairman in January 2022 and was reappointed in June 2024.
