Brazil's Supreme Court has launched an investigation into executives at Telegram and Google who were responsible for a campaign against a proposed internet regulation bill. The investigation was ordered by Justice Alexandre de Moraes, following a request by Lower House Speaker Arthur Lira. The companies had campaigned against the bill on their platforms, but later removed the posts after orders from the Supreme Court. The bill would require internet companies, search engines, and social messaging services to find and report illegal material, and impose hefty fines for failures to do so.
